What was that about? We have been called on some EXTREMELY ticky tacky roughing the passer calls the last few seasons, and then to have a late hit gang tackle, followed by a defender leading with the crown of his helmet into Romo's chin, and there was NO call?

He didn't get flagged, but I guarantee you he'll get fined.

Yeah that was another in the long line of BS calls, or no calls, by the refs. Anyone remember the first half of the Bears game last season? That was probably the most obvious pay job, bad officiating I have ever seen in my life.

I liked the shot Henry laid on Anderson. Henry may get fined but what goes around comes around.

Yea exactly. Thought they were suppose to protect the QBs? But they were hitting Romo in the chin with the spear of the helmet, Amazing. And you look at Brady, i thought there were rules against going at a QBs knees? Refs again were pathetic. The call in the Houston game on that first drive where they didnt give the Texans the first down was one of the worst calls i have ever seen. NFL Refs this season have been the worst.

Yup.

Henry may get fined too. His hit on Anderson was legit. But he did hit Anderson's helmet with his hand.

We'll see.

I'm telling you the NFL loves the Steelers. That was a terrible spot two times in a row. It changed the momentum of the game.

I say let them play. Honestly, I am sick of not allowing players to hit the quarterbacks. Seriously, so he got a few stitches. I am all about protecting players, but at some point, you have to protect the integrity of the game. I would imagine Sammy Baugh never whined about getting hit below the knees, and I would imagine fans back in the day didn't whine about it either. Think back to the days of Bart Starr, Dandy Don, look back at some of the hits those guys took.

Personally, I want the players to be allowed to play the game. Protect them to a point, but the ticky tack things I have seen over the past years has taken away from the excitement of the game.

My two cents,

My two cents,

couldn't agree more, the wussification of the NFL has gotten sickening with all of these new rules to protect quarterbacks.. however, some of those hits on Romo were just flat out late and unnecessary

I watched the Jets/Dolphins game and Pennington got a less severe helmet to helmet hit and they flagged the defender.

Romo's was way worse, but alas, no flag.

What gets me is the lack of consistency. If you are going to call it, then call it every time. If not then don't. Maybe the full time refs idea should be revisited again.

That was a dirty hit on Romo.
McGinest who has played something like 15 yrs knows the rules and he had a chance to take a cheap shot and he took it.
I guess from an old patriot I should expect then to resort to such tactics.
How can the refs miss that hit on Romo?
There is a ref right behind the qb who's main job is to protect the qb.
There is no excuse for missing that call.

My two cents,

couldnt agree more. I hate the rules in place for wide receivers and contact. If a defender makes a great play to break up a pass, but his arm draped the waist of the receiver as he makes the jump on the ball then it is pass interference. Biggest bunch of BS.

League needs to send out another memo reminding officials about roughing the passer. . .

hand to helmet....helmet to helmet...i really hope he wouldn't get finded for hitting him with such a blunt object like his hand...

i hear ya ....but athletes of today are too fast and to strong and weigh alot more than they did then.....if players like Ray lewis, D Ware, Urlacher and Tank were aloud to run ramped on these QBs 28 out of 32 would never finish a season and thats not good for league i mean alot of times the qbs never even see it coming and that would be too brutal......I think QBs should be protected..........

also did anyone notice the call against the Bears for Urlacher bumping Manning after he threw the ball.............it was weak nothing near the hits that Romo took today :banghead:

I hate the lack of continuity with the Refs....

Romo gets sandwhiched my three guys, one of which leads with the crown (McGinnest) and gives Romo 13 stitches worth of helmet...... and then last night Urlacher taps Manning who flips over and they cal THAT for roughing the passer...

Just ridiculous..
