A group of Illinois high school football players were thrilled when NFL quarterback Colt McCoy dropped by to speak about his faith and toss the pigskin around with them, but the agency that oversees prep sports in the state is considering throwing a flag.

Ken Leonard, athletic director and football coach at Sacred Heart-Griffin in Springfield, said McCoy, the starting signal caller for the Cleveland Browns, visited the school on March 13 while in town for the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet. While at the school, McCoy "threw the ball around a little bit" to several students, including football player Malik Turner, prompting a complaint to the Illinois High School Association about whether the workout represented an illegal, off-season practice for the Cyclones.

"He shared his faith and played with them and threw the ball around a little bit," Leonard said of McCoy. "It was unbelievable experience. I'm sorry if any rules were broken, but in this instance, if I was wrong, I don't want to be right."

If all it was was throwing the football around with some HS Kids, then I feel as if this is pretty ridiculous. Enough already.

I agree. He spoke to them and tossed the football around with them and now this?

I suspect that this is not about throwing a pigskin around but that's a PC issue and that's borderline political so I'll leave it at that.

:laugh2: Longhorn fans. As if this would even be posted if it were Michigan St. Me thinks its more to do w/ Colt being involved than say an Aqib Talib.

Im telling you they need to rename this forum the Longhorn Hangout Corral or something like that. :D

Carry on!

The investigation has nothing to do with what he said it was the fact they were out there during the off season

it was claimed that it represented an illegal, off-season practice

It's very naive to not understand the reason for the complaint had little to do with it being considered a workout.

got an infraction for responding to you and you didn't even get to see it, what a shame

how about you stop trolling the longhorn fans on here, this thread had nothing to do with a former horn but you had to make it about it. Doesn't surprise me though cause OU fans like you can't get off our backs.
