I thought it would be cool to discuss how the cowboys hiring Quinn as DC could impact players they may target in the draft.

Does this make Surtain an even likelier target for them? Surtain almost seems like a perfect fit for the type of corner that Quinn typically likes. IMO.

Would Quinn be interested in Parsons? As his next Bobby Wagner.

Also importantly in my mind....... Quinn actually values the safety position...... please oh lord please have this mean the cowboys will actually try to draft some starting quality safeties....

There aren't many safeties in the draft, but you have a good number in FA to consider. Simmons from Denver is a nice player, but I doubt Jerry and Stephen will want to pony up the cash for him.....plus, we'll have to sign Dak.

He had some great secondaries at Seattle. There seems to be some CBs that are available the first two rounds.

Surtain at this point just seems logical. He's a great technician, he can press....We will likely be short on CB. We'll lose Awuzie and Lewis.

I think a LB is a real possibility in round two depending on who is available. Moses and Bolton fit the Wagner mold.

Harrison Smith would be a great bridge FS. He’s got a few years left in the tank and a two-year deal would be perfect IMO.

When ATLs defense was good they were leaning on Garrett, Jones and Neal.

Hopefully he values the DT and S spot from that.

Him being open to a smaller LBr makes me wonder if he’s like JOK from ND.
Despite not being strong at the top, I think it's a very DT draft. Looks like alot of day 2 options. Not gonna get a day 1 star, but you will get a good player. Some of those guys could even be Pro Bowlers.

I think Nixon and Barmore are going to wind up in the 1st. And that will probably be it. But the next 10 or so after that looks like legit starting caliber DT's

I think it makes Kwity Paye a big target for us. Quinn loved to rotate speed rushers in Seattle. Aldon Smith is as good as gone.

LDE Lawrence - Anae- Armstrong
RDE Gregory -Paye

Sign me up but not for the #10 Pick. If we trade down into the 20s i would be okay with Paye eventhough we should absolutely take Farley or Surtain at #10 if available

I think his hiring will help us get our S and great big DT we've been clamoring for. He values both positions highly.

Agreed in theory, but he looked pretty washed this year, especially trying to tackle in space.

He would be a good signing in terms of just getting guys in the right spot though.

If Quinn is going to be a cover-3 guy...

CB - Ifeatu Melifonwu is a money pick in the second. 6-3 corner who can flip the hips and run...plus he can probably play some safety if they want that flex.

LB - Pete Werner fits that KJ Wright mold, I think.

I haven’t watched much college ball this year. Are there any good centerfield FS types that are good for the cover 3?

I would love for the cowboys to improve the safety position and identify somebody who is good at forcing turnovers.

I agree. I think Barmore could go bottom of the 1st but I like the 2nd/3rd round prospects in this class.

I wonder if someone like JOK would be someone we would have more interest in now since Quinn likes a hybrid type LB.

I like JOK...I"m just concerned about how he's going to get off blocks at the next level. For a team that's biggest weakness is run D that's a tough sell. Def not in the 1st.

I don't love the safety group all that much. I think Cisco is the best bet to become that type of player but there's a risk to drafting someone like him.

There just aren't many guys in the entire NFL who fit that mold. Offenses are mostly too fast and efficient in the passing game to allow that guy to exist anyway.

This would be a big trade back option if we drop into the mid-late 20's because based on his size I don't see him going as high as people are forecasting.

Ya, I wouldn't touch him in the 1st at all. I'd consider him in the 2nd but the concerns don't change.

Maybe it's less of a concern if we have LVE manning the MIKE and JOK is the WILL where he'd be a little freer to the ball...but still.

I'd still rather have Collins or Bolton barring they test out well.
