I didn't see this posted so I apologize if its a repost. This is an excerpt from Blogging the Boys.

This year the Pro Football Hall of Fame is doing something they’ve never
done before. They are giving the fan a voice. Although the Hall’s official
board of selectors will have the final say, our votes will be heard with the
results being announced live on the NFL Network.
To vote, go to fanschoice.com. You can vote one time per day.

Warning: the web site sucks. It's very slow.

This was mentioned before on here, but the fan vote is not factored in like the Pro Bowl, so we really don't have a voice.

Right, I am wondering if the fans votes mean anything at all. Is it a "feel good" effort by the NFL to make the fans feel like they have a say so, after all the controvrsy and fans screaming for justice to get their favorite players in the HOF.

If fan voting is a factor, the HOF will become a big a joke as the Pro Bowl.

It pretty much already is IMO.

You mean it's not already?

IMO it is worse than the Pro-Bowl because it is so limited in number of inductees and is controlled entirely by an unqualified, exclusive, and extremely biased group of individuals.

With the Pro-Bowl you have 50 players being selected each year so even if you get 10 that are wrong, that's still 40 correct ones. With the HoF there are only 6 guys max and if they get 2 wrong, (like when they DIDN'T induct Cliff Harris and Rayfield Wright a few years ago and only inducted 4 guys) then only 4 are possibly right.

Also, the Pro-Bowl is for a single season whereas the HoF is for life. I see the HoF as a much bigger "joke" than the PB.

Maybe someday.

My wife is from Ohio and we go back every year. She is always trying to get me to go to the HOF. I just keep saying no.

The votes they need are the sitting HOF Members votes. These guys played against Chuck Howley and Cliff Harris and Drew Pearson. The stupid media voters are mouth breathing morons with personal agendas.

I cannot figure out why they don't have a panel of former players/coaches/execs as the selection committee. The friggin mediots are the LAST people I would want making these selections.

And adding fans, who also fall under the bolden part, to mindlessly stuff the ballot box as they do with the pro bowl is no answer either.

I am not promoting that. I clarified it as "the votes they need."

Not saying you did, just expounding on the original point of the thread.

The ProBowl is worse. Urlacher will probably lead the league in votes, even though he has been hurt. Fans just vote for big names.

Dude, my point is directed at the notion of the fans voting for the HOF. That's the point of the thread.

I'd be more interested on thoughts as to why someone would think fans voting for the HOF would be a good idea.
