'Transformers 3' -- Extra Injured in Botched Stunt

9/2/2010 7:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

A 24-year-old female extra was "seriously injured" on the Indiana set of "Transformers 3" yesterday after a car stunt went terribly wrong.

Officials say the accident happened during a driving scene ... when an object went through the windshield of a car, hitting the driver.

An extra on the set described the accident to WLS-TV ... saying, "The vehicle was being towed by another vehicle ... the cable between the two vehicles broke. It whipped around and sliced through the woman's car and sliced through her skull, apparently. " :omg:

Cops have confirmed ... "The equipment pertaining to the stunt was impounded by the Indiana State Police."

The victim was airlifted to a local hospital. We're told she's currently in critical condition.

Whhhhaaaaatttttt??? That's INSANE!

What in the name of Jebus is an EXTRA doing around dangerous **** like that anyway?

Just more proof that anything involving Michael Bay leads to nothing but bad news.

No matter how bad you think may be (The Rock is still one of the best action movies of the last 20 years) it could be worse and he could make one of those boring *** character dramas that feature unlikeable characters and are all pretty much the same.

Yeah, who wants plot and good acting!!

I'll give it to you on the Rock....that and the first Bad Boys. Bay is like George Lucas...started out good when he was young then went totally off the stupid end. Explosions aren't plot points! Now Bay is just one of the worst directors in Hollywood. Having Bumblebee pee on someone = jar jar binks.

I've always feared this type of thing. I once saw a very thick chain break when towing a vehicle. It basically shattered everything in its path.

Good acting is great, and that's about all they have going for them. None of them have much of a plot, and those that do have far less of one than any Bay film. And the Jar Jar comparison is pretty weak.

Sucks about the Injury.

That being said, the Transformers movies were terrible. Hollywood always finds a way to take something from the childhoods of people who are 20+ now, and turn it into a movie for young teens, while making it horrible to boot. I'm talking to you Transformers, GI Joe, and that animated TMNT crap shoot.

Mr. Bay turned into an awful Director unfortunately. I donno how to embed youtube videos, but this sums your standard Bay movie up pretty well.

I hated the first one the fight scene between the robots where terrible they panned in to close and had a clutter fill. Then several of the scenes the robot fight looked like metal stick figures rolling around.

why is everybody so overly critical? really weak reasons to not like a movie imo.

Those reasons were just a small portion of the reasons for me hating that movie. Mine mostly had to do with boring plot, sup par acting, and that FBI guy. **** that FBI guy. He felt tossed in at random for comedic value, but wasn't funny at all. The comedy in the movie was pretty bad. Megan Foxx's only role in that movie was to look hot.

You could seriously cut 1 hour of film away from the original Transformers, and have the exact same storyline without missing anything important.

One of my coaches in high school had a friend who died like that.

If you go back and watch 'The Rock' or 'Bad Boys' now, you realize how bad they are. At the time, I remember thinking they were decent. They sure didn't age well.

Crazy talk, both are still awesome, especially The Rock.

Yeah both are very decent movies. I just saw The Rock the other night. Has an epic theme song.

Gabriela Cedillo was driving her car through a scene of the next "Transformers" movie when a stunt for the scene went horribly wrong.

A Chicago woman as an extra on the next "Transformers" movie is in a medically induced coma after she was injured during filming, MyFoxChicago.com reports.

Gabriela Cedillo, 24, has been pursuing a passion for acting while working a regular job at a bank. On Wednesday, she was driving her car through a scene of "Transformers 3," filming in Hammond, Ind., when a stunt for the scene went horribly wrong.
Witnesses said a cable snapped, whipping through her windshield and hitting her in the head. She is recovering from brain surgery at Loyola.

Neighbors told MyFoxChicago.com that Cedillo was excited to be working on the movie.

"It was a blessing to know she was going to be a part of it," Nate Smith told the TV station. "But then to find out she was part of the unfortunate accident, it set you back a few steps. ... Nothing you can do but sit and pray."

The last day of filming in Chicago had been scheduled for Thursday, but it was called off because of the accident.

"Our thoughts and are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones," the film production said in a written statement. "We are looking into what caused the accident."

State workplace investigators in Indiana also are looking into the accident.
