we sign Colt RFA OG Ryan Lilja to an offer-sheet? he would only require a 2nd as comp, and we wouldn't have to offer more than 4-5 mil a year to pry him away from the Colts

not bad for an established player w/ his whole career ahead of him

I don't know the player, but if he is a quality young starter, what is wrong with trading a second for a guy who could come in and start ASAP? I think that's better than drafting another Peterman/Rogers/Johnson, no?

He doesn't commit many penalties or allow many sacks, but at only 6'2" 290lbs I don't know that he'd fit in with a power running philosophy that I think Dallas will continue to pursue.

I didn't know that. Oh well. It's a shame, because I don't like monster linemen. I like the smaller guys.

On that note - how big is Kosier & Rivera? Guards generally don't have to be tackle size, even in a power system.

it's not true, we're not changing the blocking scheme, in fact Wade isn't going to change much of what we do on O

What's being changed? We've pretty much always been a power-blocking OL.

we're looking at quicker guys who can pull and reach the 2nd level

have been for the past couple of years

Kosier is 6'5" 305 and Rivera is 6'3" 309. We don't have any OG's on the current roster under 300lbs. Berger is 6'5" 305 and Procter is 6'5" 305. While I agree smaller lineman can be effective in a power system, I don't believe we'll be headed that way anytime soon.

we are not a power system

That doesn't mean that we aren't a power system. I am talking about the difference between us and a Denver/Atlanta style OL where no one is over 300 lbs.

Just because a guard can pull doesn't mean that we aren't looking for beasts. In his best days, one of the greatest things about Allen was that he was strong AND mobile. But we were still a power blocking system.

We don't really zone block that often.

Quicker, yes but not undersized like Lilja. The other Parcells-era lineman (Rogers and Peterman) were 6'6" 305, 6'4" 323 respectively.

Who knows what we will be with a brand new coaching staff on offense except for Sparano.

Two years ago the Lions signed Rick DeMulling(a very good OG with the Colts)to a lucrative contract and he rewarded them by sucking to high heaven so they benched him in the first year of that contract and replaced him with some guy named Kyle Kosier. No thanks to Lilja.

You guys must all remember bruce coslet and his zone blocking scheme right? that was a disaster if i recall properly.
