How deep were Folk's kickoffs in Minn?

According to NFL.com his three kickoffs landed at the 8, 9, and 5 yard line.

I've read the staff is working with him on kicking more line-drivey balls - they think he gets under the ball a bit too much which gives good hangtime but that isn't so important on the kickoffs as you could trade that handtime for balls that go 5-6 yards deeper each time.

Just curious, thanks.

Gramatica was kicking off deeper, but then again that is probably exactly why he is injured. Pushing himself beyond his limit.

last year he pretty much showed the same sort of KOs in camp with NE -- as the season wore on, he lost distance.

Gramatica was kicking the ball much, much lower which lead to better returns for the opponents. I only looked briefly but Dallas' opponents had a better starting field position average when he kicked than when Folk kicked off.

Most fans only look at where the ball came down to judge a kick off. They should really be looking at where the opponents are starting their drives.

That is correct -- however, that sort of comparison is somewhat meaningless in pre-season with so many different guys playing ST

Though I disagree with that statement, you can also time the hangtime of each kickoff if you disagree that Folk was kicking the ball much higher allowing for shorter returns.

His kicks were higher -- and that is something the staff mentioned they didn't particularly like -- if the same kick doesn't go as high it ends up 5-10 yards deeper. If he kicks it flatter, he could be knocking balls deep into the endzone.
