How Did The Giants Get This Bad? The Draft!

Was curious how the Giants got to where they are today.
I know they've had injuries, but looking at their drafts the last 3-4 years tells the story.

• They passed on Josh Allen in 2018. I get it, as he was considered a bit of a risk

But then getting a heaven-sent opportunity to rectify that mistake.....

• They passed on Justin Herbert in 2020

I hadn't noticed that they were near the top of the draft both years and blew it BOTH times and getting their franchise star.

Glad they did.

I was shocked when they passed up on Tristan Wirfs, But very glad they did.

Even going back further their first round picks haven't lived up to their selection since 2014 with OBJ.
Barkley, for all his hype and rookie year hasn't been the same.
Engram never lived up to his potential.
Apple was a bust along with Flowers.

The second round they were better with Collins, Tomlinson, McKinney and Hernandez (overrated but at least started).

Problem with the Giants goes back to Eli Manning, the disputes over him starting and ownership taking the QBs side and then the QB realizes he was dragging the team down.

When Reese/McAdoo lost the debate and their jobs Mara hired Gettleman to try to continue to build with Eli. Which lead to them passing on Allen/any QB for Barkley(win now move a la Elliott in 16) but then Gettleman dismembered the team by shipping off OBJ/disputes with Collins and poor drafts continued.

By 2019 it's obvious Eli is toast so they reach for Jones.
So, in 2020 it's maybe too soon to panic when a legit QB class arrives and take Tua/Herbert so they ride out with Jones.

Right now the Giants would draft 5th and 8th overall this year. They basically cant fck this up as they need help everywhere.

If im the Giants Front Office i draft two guys out of this group. Its almost given that two out of this will be available with 5 and 8.

Hamilton (S), Neal (T), Stingley (CB), Wilson (WR), Dean (LB), Karlaftis (DE), Linderbaum (C)

The QBs are trash in this years class so they need to ride with Jones for another year and suck. Than next season they likely draft Top 5 again and can draft a Franchise QB.
