Hooker was a top 15 pick. He has performed well at the NFL level. He is an athletic freak of nature.

I realize he had a significant injury last year, that could have affected his playing ability long term. Having said that, we signed him late, for why equates to pennies.

This seems like a low risk high reward signing. Having said that, how is the world did we sign Hooker to such a team friendly contract??? Pretty much every team had the same shot at him we did and he signed here for pennies.

Additionally, how did he get away from his prior team. He is almost the equivalent of having Parsons get injured for a couple of years and the team giving up on him prematurely. (Jimmy Smith comes to mind)

Well, it's not just the injury this year. The Colts essentially had to give up on him, and we took a shot that he can stay healthy while other teams didn't deem him worthy of that shot. They just simply don't believe there is a reward with him. We'll see if he can prove that wrong.

From what I recall, we gave him a tryout back around the same time Kazee tried out. Hooker couldn't pass a physical then while Kazee did. Hooker had to rehab more and shopped himself around the league some more. Finally, he chooses to try out again for the Cowboys with success.

He sounds like Darth Vader. Maybe we just needs some brains in this secondary. After the last 20 years I’ll take some instinct over athleticism… He might bring that.

not swecret players with red flags like inuires coem in and look for prove it deals..not big deal

i hope hes 75% of who he was i mean we all wanted ET/Berry who was half what he usd to be all the way up to the last game last year the cries for should have got ET..dudes career was all but done, Hooker is still young..

feel lucky we have Kazee, Wilson, and hooker IMO interchangeable safety's to man that position and young guys behind them to learn..

its an improved group as is LB with neal, parsons, cox, new LVE and JS is not role player thats deep! etc

quinn played for peanuts got 13 sacks got another big deal..players do this..we are the recipients of it and maybe jst maybe he bounces back and we can keep these guys for more then one year for once..

im looking at the defense as a GROPU and feel with new staff scheme and infusion of talent it will be much improved..

the injuries' and lack of blue chip DT position is my only concern

People weren't beating Hooker's door down for his services because of that injury history.

He's was drafted in 2017 and has already dealt with an ACL, MCL, foot injuries, and an Achilles.

I'd say that answers the question about the team friendly contract. Wow.

He’s coming off a severe injury. Until he performs on the field his return is a crapshoot.

If you're looking for an audition for next year, you want a chance to start on a big stage. That's us. When Hooker is up to speed, he should be our top starting S.

Right on...its really more of a prove it deal for Hooker since its also only one year. IF he has a very good and healthy year, he will probably be gone. Dallas hates paying FS any money at all. They also may be counting on Mukuamu to come into his own.

There's no market for him. His injuries are pretty big deals. Now why more teams didnt' try and kick the tires? That I don't know.

1. Before the combine had surgery on his hip and to repair a hernia
2. Rookie year he tears his ACL/MCL
3. 2nd year he missed two games due to his hip and missed the divisional playoff game with a foot injury
4. 3rd year he tore his meniscus in his left knee
5. 4th year he tore his achilles.

nobody will give him any money and he saw the safety on the cowboys roster and was like word? those guys is trash that is the best place to build value for a real contract
