How should we rebuild our running back room?

Love this discussion, unfortunately its not in the main forum.
The obvious thing that needs to happen is, move on from Zeke post June1. Save 11 million plus in cap space.

I would also move away from Pollard. There are a bunch of FA running backs out there.
Barkely, Sanders, Jacobs, Pollard, Kareem Hunt, Penny, Jamal Williams, Moestert, Jeff Wilson, Breida, Damien Harris, James Robinson, Perine.

The big names will get a lot of money but there are guys on this list who can come very cheap, and you of course draft a kid.

Save money at that position and become much better. If you look at WR's there is basically no player I like.
The best available is the likes of Agholor, Sheperd, Marvin Jones, etc
Think the belief is ultimately they are going to release Zeke and at least keep Pollard for another season with the tag. Finding a Zeke replacement shouldn't be too difficult, but Pollard and his big play ability far more difficult. Our offense already lacks explosiveness, if they are going to losing Shultz/Pollard that might be too much to absorb in 1 offseason.

Pollard I like but I feel like he is best in touching the ball 15 times a game and dont' think he should get RB1 money.

Schultz I think is a great security blanket but not elite and we should pass on overpaying him. Let the young guys take over.

Pollard has a unique skill set and could even be greater if the team uses him more in the passing game. The Cowboys need to use him like Kamara and have more of a power back splitting the carries.

Damien Harris is a FA I like. Probably half the cost of what tagging Pollard would be per year. Then give me a mid rounder and let’s roll.
Damien Harris, Penny or add in Moestert or Jeff Wilson. You get the pass catching ability. Remember Penny was a first round pick who had had injuries. He will be a bargain.
Our O line is better than Seattle.

100% agree.

The more I think about it the less I want to tag Pollard after an injury.

Everyone you mentioned would be half maybe a third of the cost.

I'm not tagging Pollard. If he doesn't sign a team friendly RB deal. Let him go and get the comp pick.. I'm not drafting a RB first 2 rounds either. Bring in a veteran, a middle rounder and every UDFA RB you can find. Let the the chips fall where they may.. Zeke is good as gone..

If Bijan R falls to 26 and there's not another 1st round grade prospect fall to us, I am drafting him without hesitation. He is special and incredible value at 26. He will make the OL look better, much like Emmett did during his years.
I would let Pollard go and draft another speed//3rd down back to complement him.
