Justin Fields is available at 10...the football team calls and they offer Chase Young for pick 10...do you say yes?

If you said no to that first offer..what if they said 19+ Young? Is that enough?

Obviously this is just a hypothetical..I don't even know if the ft would offer Young..but if I'm going to give them a franchise qb, I darn sure am going to take their best player if I'm even going to consider it at all

What do you say?

giving the football team fields doesnt concern you?
Anytime I helped a division rival get a QB, there would be some hesitation. If you screwed up and gave them a 10 year all-pro at that position you’d never live it down... so yeah, I’d have some concern.

However, not enough to turn down Young (and certainly not enough to turn him down along with pick 19).

My thought process is sort of like this:

Fields may be good and he may not. If I felt about him like I do Lawrence and Wilson, I would not do it. Fields has potential but he could still miss IMO. So that is my first thought.

Secondly, unless Dallas is either picking Fields or trading the pick to another team who will take him, then Washington will probably just call the Giants and offer them a package, which they’d likely accept, so you’re probably not keeping Fields out of DC.

And finally, Young (+19) is wayyy better than just Surtain, so it would seriously help the Cowboys, which ultimately is what you’re trying to do in the draft.

Of course there are questions, like who else is available, and are there any other trade partners for Fields besides Washington. If anyone else can get close to their offer, I think you always go outside the division... and outside the conference if possible.

In the end, it would come down to how your franchise grades Fields and if you want to see him twice a year.

It is an interesting question.

No way Washington ever lets Young go.

Ever.

If they make the right offer, even without Young, the answer is yes. The point of the draft is improving your team. I'd make Washington give me two firsts and two seconds, though. BTW, they are rumored to love Trey Lance, so such a trade isn't out of the question.

Or to hurt them while helping us, they could give us Daron Payne and their first- and second-round picks.

Those demands might seem high, but look at what San Fran paid to move up from 12 to 3: 3 firsts and a third.

Id sprint to the podium

I’m not sure there’s any defensive player in the league worth more than a franchise QB
It’s funny you say that. Most draft analysts say the WFT made a mistake by passing on Herbert. To answer the question though I think Chase Young and the 19th pick would make us Super Bowl contenders. We would instantly have the best pass rush in the league without even making a draft pick.

ONLY because I believe Chase Young will very soon rival Aaron Donald as best defensive player in the league, I do both. Unfortunately I don't believe we'd ever get that offer from WFT.

They aren't trade Young under any circumstance, they named him a team captain as a rookie. It's like us dealing Tyron Smith in his 2nd yr in the league.

Well then they won't get a qb

Yea, that would never happen.

They would just deal with teams that own the 8th,9th, 11th 12th... overall picks than ever thinking of giving up their franchise edge rusher.

I think the only way they consider that is to go to the 1st overall pick.

Absolutely not. That's not even sniffing what it would take for them to move to #10.

it would be fun to watch Young pounding Fields twice a year, so yes make the trade!
