I do not understand the love affair for George Karlaftis

Constantly I see draft websites have this guy TOP TEN in their mock drafts. I always hear what he did as a freshman and 17.5 qb pressures. He gets hurt since and truly none of his stats really stand out. His highlights he really looks nothing to separate him from the pack IMO. I believe this is like peer pressure that this guy is a top talent. I'm not buying it. So what is your opinion on George Karlaftis?

He'll likely drop as we go through the process. As you know, half the prospects that are routinely mocked at this point won't sniff the 1st round. I would liken Karlaftis after Zach Allen or A.J. Espeneza. Could end up being a solid pro but I don't he's a transcendent talent.

Exactly. I was thinking the 40 time is going to drop his stock. Also, Espinoza came to mind.

I don’t think he’s a top 10/15 guy but he’s a darn good player. He’s one where the box score won’t wow you but he plays on a smaller team and are double teams all year.

Watch him on tape and he’s impressive for someone his size. Good first step, good bend and big power you’d expect from someone that big. Combine will be big for him. It dude is a pressure machine. Without combine numbers yet I’d take him with our 1st pick all day.

He is a power DE in the category with DLaw. He has very good athleticism but it's not in the DWare category.

Fans don't tend to like those types of players. Fans like the freak athlete types.

I don't see him as a top 10 player but he appears to be a 'safe' pick in that he is the opposite of a boom or bust type.

I don't see it with Karlaftis at all. He's huge at 6'4" 275 and has good agility for a DE his size, but he doesn't play as powerfully as the size would have you think, he's not fast, and he's not explosive off the line. I just don't see how he's going to beat pro tackles.

It sounds wild, but at first blush I'd bill him as a 4th round pick. I think he's a rotational DE in the pros.

The AJ Epenesa comparison seems really apt. Billed as a top 10 pick at the start of the process, ended up drafted in the 2nd, currently JAG'ing out on the Bills' bench.
