I don't buy into that. Parcells will be back next year. Too much unfinished business...

So he leaves the Jets because they wont give him control and will return to that franchise to control. Hmm...

Frankly, think Parcells leaving Dallas after 3 years tarnishes his image much more then leaving Jets did also after 3 years (due to health/divorce). Don't see him returning to NFL if he leaves Cowboys. Believe he will be back but just needs little time to recharge his batteries and force Jerry Jones to lessen his grip more on Cowboys. Concerned over what I have been hearing that Jones asked Parcells to not make QB change until Quincy/Hutchinson evaluation could be made despite fact Parcells wanted bring Delihomme (sp?) in. Also Jones would go for paying some money out for PK this year. If true, I'd be real upset with Jones after need for PK became more obvious. Wonder if Jerry has continued messing up team while we all thought Parcells was making all the decisions.

Looks like we might be wrong about no draft pick compensation for HCs.

CLEARING THE AIR ON PICKS FOR COACHES
After the Bucs acquired Raiders coach Jon Gruden by sending a pack of picks to the pirates of Piedmont, the NFL circulated a memo that supposedly prohibited this practice.
As explained in the January 17, 2003 St. Petersburg Times, the Competition Committee had concluded that the use of draft picks to secure coaches could be undermining the purposes of the draft.
Not long thereafter, then-Bucs G.M. Rich McKay told ESPN.com that the memo was not intended to apply to head coaches.
At a time when there will be plenty of head coaching vacancies and not enough high-end candidates, some teams could be interested in guys who already are gainfully employed with other NFL teams. Thus, the possibility of using draft picks has come up again, and plenty of our readers wanted to know whether the practice was still permitted.
League spokesman Greg Aiello told us on Monday that draft picks can be used to acquire a head coach or a high-ranking club executive (such as G.M. or the equivalent). Draft choices cannot be used, per Aiello, to acquire coordinators, position coaches, or executives below the level of president or G.M.
We've got a feeling that this rule will come into play for at least one of the current coaching and/or G.M. vacancies this year, possibly if the Chiefs come after coach Herm Edwards of the Jets.

I heard that Parcells was going to be the GM of the Jets and HC of the Lions, all the while living at his new vacation home in the keys, that he bought from Jimmy Johnson, who is returining as head coach of the Cowboys and will employ Parcells as a consultant on who to bring in as a veteran QB next year. Parcells has allready stated that he is going after Flutie, "heck, he can kick and QB, I think thats killing two birds with one stone"-Parcells.
