I mean how many months did the Giants have to prepare against Dallas?

Dallas is legit but the Giants were media darlings for NO reason.

Last season they went 9-7-1. But they won some fluke games during a 6-1 start and then they went 3-6-1 the rest of the year. And then they beat a flawed Vikings team in the playoffs.

While I am NOT downplaying the Cowboys' win last night, the Giants are not a good football team. They really weren't good last year. Last night Dallas exposed them to the world.

The off-season jawing by the press is much like your side mirror on your car.
Things may appear larger than they really are.

The Giants were gifted an anointing by the press which, like a virus, spread throughout the talking heads and newsprint journalists as manna for the masses who eat from the spoon of the press. But truly very few teams live up to the hype of the news hounds looking to fill content and get their byline spoken about.

We, the fans of this Dallas Cowboy's team should know this, perhaps more than any other group of fans. For two and a half decades the thorny crown of preseason has been placed on the heads of this team. From Jerry making bold statements, to the reputation of Dallas from the 90's still having some mojo.

I'm not certain there was a fan her that believed Dallas would push the Giant's faces in the mud as they did. But the Giants' fans surely believe the soap the press was selling.

And as we know, that hurts worse when they fall.

The Cowboys are definitely legit, but the Giants are what they are and that's not anything special. We beat a mediocre team badly -- how legit that makes us is anyone's guess. Whether we're good enough to beat the likes of the 49ers is the question we'll have to deal with eventually. I won't be convinced that this version of the Cowboys is good enough to do that until such time as our guys prove it. That'd be legit, without question! ;)

That’s because Daniel Jones actually played decent last year. He looked like normal Daniel Jones where he sucked it up again last night. Granted, his Oline got demolished last night but we’ll know more after week 2 on how bad/good they really are.

I just thought to myself how big that win was. When you have MONTHS to get prepared for 1 team and you get shut out, that's a big deal. Dallas is legit.

I think they game planned for the Cowboy just like MM did, they just did not know how fast this team came to play. It was not the rain it was the thunder that the Cowboys put on them.

Jones is never going to be an elite QB (in my opinion). He had 15 TD's the entire season last year. His biggest threat is he can run around a little. He's like a more athletic, more mistake prone Cooper Rush. If you give him a little pressure he panics and makes dumb decisions- like Gilmore's interception last night. Heave that ball out of bounds, that's Football 101 and he failed.

Let's face it -- the Giants contributed generously to their own demise last night. A really good team wouldn't have done that. Maybe they'll develop into a legit contender before the present season is over, but as for now, they're quite average until proven otherwise. I believe we brought our "A" game, while they blundered themselves into something not befitting a good team. Let's hope we'll prove that we're true contenders before 2023 is over.

No one could have won with the craptastic offensive line play they had last night.

Pretty sweet win. Kicked their rears for 60 minutes, in their house, to their booing home fans :)
Sweet victory over the great NYG run attack that was stifled. Ole Dimes wasn't half a penny.

Did anyone hear Thibodeaux's name all game? One tackle. :)

7 sacks, couple INTs and a pick 6, fumbles and a blocked kick for 6 :)

Whoa

To answer your thread title question -- the same number of months EVERY NFL TEAM HAD TO PREPARE FOR THEIR WEEK ONE OPPONENT.
• Super Bowl Champs went down in their home opener
• Bengals - AFC Championship Finalst the last two seasons - loses by 3 TDs to the Browns - a team 90% of the NFL fanbase hasn't - and still does not respect one iota for over three decades.
• Rams - limped out of their post-title season 2022 5-W, 12- L campaign with a road loss to tbe Seahawks 16-19 in OT.
Eight months later -‐LAR goes back up to SEA and thumps them 30-13 by outscoring the home team 23- zip in the 2nd half.
One game out of 17 for all NFL teams (following BUF @ NYJ tonight).
Big win for everyone that started 1-0...but the 0-1 teams are still viable- no matter how bad the first defeat looked.

I never saw the hype about Daniel Jones. Listening to all the talking heads on NY radio last year, I kept wondering if they were watching the same games I was watching.

Collinsworth was preparing for his night long diatribe on how they were going to smash Dallas up the middle. And then a weather and defensive onslaught ensued. Giants had a plan but it got washed away...

Question: How do you prepare for being mauled by a pack of lions?

Answer: You can’t.

It a monumental loss, setting a tone for the season they were not expecting. Week one or not they are now hemorrhaging and need to stop the bleeding immediately.

Daniel Jones is not the answer for NYG. He's got a lot of ability but when you look at his face he just looks like a lost boy.
