Man, lane, I just hate to advise buying a new car. But... if you do, buy if for 100$ over invoice. If they won't do that, don't buy it.

From your local ex-car salesman.

Generally speaking, you ar ecorrect, however...if there was ever a time to but a new car it is now, as the price of used cars has shot up tremendously the last few years.

Be that as it may, GOOD LUCK with the new car Lane!

Every time someone brings up the subject of buying a new car I tell them the same thing. You REALLY need to get a subscription to Consumer Reports.org. You will get more information than you could possibly what or assimilate about the car you what to buy.

Here is the free version of their report on the Chrysler 200.

A Chrysler? Chrysler would have to pay me for my time to test drive any of their vehicles.

To each their own. Good luck.

Really? Is invoice the same as MSRP and is that their bottom dollar figure? Obviously, we all know we can play with the sticker price but I never knew how low I could go. Thanks.

I subscribe to CR on-line. They also have a subscription service where they'll figure out what the lowest price is for a vehicle you're looking for. It's not that expensive and, although I haven't used it, I'm sure you'll more than get your monies worth.

Usually the wife is hauling kids around. Would you want your wife in a POS or nice car when hauling precious cargo?

Bought one new a few months back. Had a issue with a sensor (something with conversion of gas and E85) after the first week but since then we have no complaints. Same color as your looking at. It's a pretty car and runs great. Not as good on gas mileage as they claim but I was surprised at how much power it had.

I can't see how you could go wrong. We love it.

I've always bought new. You know from the get-go the history of the vehicle and how it was treated. I am big on keeping my car as clean as possible...almost to the point of being OCD about it. :)

I can't believe how many people trash their cars inside and out. That's one of the reasons I just won't buy used. I know it's probably not the most financially-sound decision to make but in the end, I am happy that I made that decision.

Having said that, I purchased my Subaru brand new in August of 04 and it still looks brand new.

Lane, I think, after the buyer's remorse goes away, you'll be very happy you made the purchase. I'm not a big Chrysler guy so I could not give you an honest review.

I've got 800 miles on my 2011 F150. Second new truck I bought the first being an 2002 F 150. When I bought the 02 I started out looking for used. It didn't make any sense to go used. I would have had to buy something with 50k + miles on it to see any significant savings over what I could negotiate a new truck for. I drove that one for ten years and just traded it for the 2011 which I will drive for ten years at least. I looked at the used market this time around too. Same deal. Big money for anything with reasonable miles on it.

Do your homework. Know that the MSRP is a joke. Be prepared to thank the sales person for his time and walk out the door at least once. Know that they make money on the financing too so there is room to negotiate on that also. Know that the dealer gets reimbursed for any "rebates" so those don't factor in to the negotiations.

One of the best sources for real info on vehicles are discussion forums. Somewhere there is a forum or two where the hardcore Chrysler fanatics hang out and you can learn about all the pros and cons of whatever it is you are looking at.

Don't buy the extended warranty. At least at the time of purchase. You can deal with that as your mfg's warranty expires if you want.

First go to edmunds.com lots of resources there on true value pricing and reviews. Before you go to the dealer get price quotes from your local dealers. When you go to the dealer do not talk to any salesman. Deal with the fleet manager or internet sales department. Hope this helps and congrats on your future new car.

the illuminated cup holders and interior lighting are bad ***.

It does have a nice little touch of class. The illuminated cup holders seem to be a staple in the Dodge and Chrysler vehicles now. Our new Avenger also has them.

You will continue to find little surprises, there is a always hot USB jack in the center accessory box which comes in really handy. and watch out for the heated seats, they get dang warm!

Can you change the brightness and color of the illumination too? I just bought a 2012 Ford Focus a couple months ago and it has that. I couldn't wait for it to get dark so I could play with that. :lmao2:

Congrats on the new wheels.

I'm 40 and I've not had a new car yet in my life.

I did buy my wife a new SUV about 5 years ago just after the birth of my son. She has enjoyed it and it still runs perfectly 5 years later. They aren't efficient use of your money but they do buy some peace of mind with the warraynt.

Hope you enjoy it and it is trouble-free for many years.
