We're all fans here. And I respect that. Unless you're just way out of line or something, then I'll let others smack you down or, every once in a blue moon, smack you down myself.

I kid, of course. Just how I roll.

The reason I respect opinions from others is because we often learn from others. In fact, it is the best way to learn. For instance, I admittedly over-hype some draft players and UDFAs, because I like their potential and I personally enjoy the off-season, but the members here on the far opposite of my opinions keeps me honest, and semi-realistic. I always like thinking outside of the box, though. I believe challenging your belief system, habits, morals, etc. makes you better. I've often formed my best opinions simply by listening to and applying the opinion of others to situations, sort of like a situation X vs Y type thing.Wouldn't you know it? You can apply the scientific method to theories and perspectives, and it'll often work.

That's what I'd like this season to be.

Throw draft position out the window. I don't want to hear, "well, so and so was drafted, 4,5,6." or any of that. Just give me the best players in spite of losing your precious draft capital.

I think that has hurt us in years' past. I hope guys out there really are battling for a position behind Martin. I see Waletzko at RG and I'm rooting for the guy. I cringe when I hear fans heckling a red-shirted rookie, playing at a position he's new at.. Give the guy some reps. He has worked all of his life, and you're heckling him as he's trying to work. Just low if you're a so-called journalist. Don't abuse the privilege. Let him try to figure it out. Same for guys like Alarcon. I realize he likely won't make it. But I want to see him given a clean sheet and at least consider him on a fair level of competition. That is, if he performs in preseason. I want guys you can trust. Guys like Brooks are proving to be — Hendershot proved to be last year. Like, OK, what if Alarcon stops the run like a beast and you just can't cut that guy. Now what?

And true, I get it. The competition isn't the same competition that we see in the regular season. So you can hardly compare it. That is true. But at the same time, I've also learned its also true that sometimes the tape just doesn't lie. And that guy who flashed in a few preseason games ends up having a nice career. It happens.

It should happen.

I just don't want to see our front office stuck on any certain player, if another player ends up being a better player. Yes, this is tough to analyze, from a data and eye-ball test, and many other factors that go into the preseason analysis, but getting that right is part of the battle, for the best teams. Of course, of course, of course, some of you are saying. And then some think none of these guys make the team. And that happens. But sometimes, the UDFA just makes it so obvious that he's the answer to the problem you utilized your draft pick to solve, but he just hasn't gotten to the point of being able.

As much as I root for one guy, I'm actually good with him getting beaten out, if he gets beaten out.

Go with the guy who's most ready right now — however you decide to decide that.

And let's roll.

It's OK to correct old mistakes with new solutions as opposed to sticking to your guns on the old one.

No player in general. I'm not picking favorites. Let the best one win.

That's my two proverbial pennies.
