I think FA asking Jerry if Dak is there before signing a contract

I believe a lot of FAs that Dallas is going after have inquired to Jerry & Will McClay whether Dak is going to be on the roster before they sign their contracts with Cowboys.

Thanks for the insight.

Dak will have been signed to a contract or tagged before the FA period begins. So why would any FA's be concerned to need to ask?

I believe, like Dak, most of those FA's are much more concerned about how much money they can squeeze from a team over if they're going to be competitive or not.

I don't care what any of them says on Twitter about "wanting to win". Only very few players would chose winning over money.

It must be exhausting coming up with these totally random, made up things that you share with us all the time.

More wolves than GOATS.

By time the Cowboys enter the FA mix the player pool they'll be looking at won't be in position to make any demands. It will be the guys hoping for a paycheck.

A thought occurred to me.

(And yes, I do think now and then)

Maybe the reason Dak hasn't been signed is because given Jerry's desire to "rule the roost" he feels Dak (and/or his agent) is controlling the negotiations and putting Jerry in the position of just reacting to their demands, rather than Jerry making an offer and Dak responding.

In other words whatever deal is done (if it is) it will be Jerry, the master, getting Dak to accept HIS offer so Jerry "wins" the contract negotiation battle.

I don't know of course, but where Jerry is concerned anything's possible...

I tend to think it is in the teams best interest to get Dak Signed before the start of FA so they have a clearer picture of what they can do in FA.

If no deal is reached, he will get tagged again.

We've known this for almost a year now.

95%+ of free agents in every sport sign with the team that offers them the most money.

I believe you have no source(s) for this assertion and are just making stuff up out of thin air.
I usually agree with you, and seem not to agree with Dak Attack much of the time, but in this case I'm not sure his thought is really that off base. Of course, his post indicated that he was stating what he believes, so there is no other source for him to cite, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think that a potential free agent signee might want to know about the team he would be signing with to determine how competitive that team might be.

I will say that one thing Dak Attack is off base on his belief that free agents the Cowboys are interested in are already asking about Dak's status, but that can't be the case since free agency hasn't opened up yet. Once it does open up and the Cowboys are talking to free agents, I could see Dak's status coming up in the discussion.
