I thought Spears played a really good game last night. He may very well turn out to be the better of the 2 first round picks. Don't get me wrong, I love Ware as well, but I am encouraged the way Spears is disrupting things in there.

I don't think he'll be better than Ware who just outright influences the game. However, I think he's got a one up on Canty because he can play both the pass and the run. Canty seems to be relegated to being a good run stopper, but not much of a threat against the pass.

Watch out for Jason Hatcher though. Once he gets up to snuff against the run, this guy could be one of the very best 3-4 DE's in the game.

Don't jump the gun on Hatcher. Admittedly he looked good in limited time yesterday, but it's much easier when he knows he doesn't even have to think about the run - when his only job is rushing the passer as hard as he can.

Even once he gets more experience with the run, he may or may not prove to be an impact player because having to see and read and interperet makes it much more difficult on some players.

I do like the potential though - it will be fun to watch how he develops.

I was real impressed with Spears, but forgive me for saying it's about time. This is the kind of output you should see every game from a first round pick. As far as Ware, he seems to be improving by the week. If if wasn't for that stupid call by the officials, his sack total would be 1 higher.

I like Spears too, but I don't think he will be quite the same game changer as Ware. Joe Theismann was on the Mike and Mike show this morning and he said that Merriman, Ware, and Peppers are the only 3 players that are completely unblockable 1 on 1 in the league. While I don't give Theismann any Football smarts credit, I really liked to hear that comment.

Peppers was a monster yesterday. I just love watching a BIG DT handle things in the middle. That is why Minn looks so good. They have a huge d line that just shuts down the middle.

Isn't it great that Spears, Ware and Canty play for the same team!! Makes us a better team!  :)

I Love Spears

I love the way he gets amped after a big hit even when it wasn't him (going up to Ware after Ware's sack and getting everyone pumped up)

I love having a player like that on D

If these 3 guys stay healthy, they will only improve as they work together, and get more game time experience. The success that they had against Washington will only give them more confidence. They should really be something special by November if they continue to show improvement game to game.
