I am no Oklahoma fan, but I can't figure out why Oklahoma with 2:30 seconds left and 4 and 10 at about their on 10 and not timeouts chose to punt?

Mizzou ran the ball 3 times punted and that left the Sooners with 2 seconds left on the clock.

I did not understand that at all.

I could never say that about Oklahoma, regardless how they look. They are playing the best football they can atm and so is Texas. Maybe you forget that. I get it. I wouldn't want Mizzou to get an easy score from the 20. They weren't going to convert that 4th and 10 there at the end.

Not likely to convert, I agree. Still, would you rather have 4th and 10 with 2:30 remaining or 1st and 10 with 2 seconds remaining in roughly the same field position.

I know you can hope upon hope that you force a fumble, but when a team is just trying to run out the clock how likely is that?

In that situation I go for it every time on 4th and 10. The odds of success are indeed low, but better than the alternative they left themselves with.

Brother...Texas is my favorite college team, but I'm not a cheerleader...I call 'em like I see 'em...and they're playing worse than I've ever seen since Mack has been here, so you'll forgive me if I have trouble working up a fake grin for the cameras.

As far as you Okies are concerned...I'm just jabbing you with a cattle prod because ya'll really thought you deserved that #1 BCS ranking. I took one look at your schedule (who you had played) and knew you were doomed.

It's not necessary to check our brains at the door in order to be fans.

But this team has basically gone away from home 1 time and we are in late October.

If I were OU I would try and get Chris Peterson and a different staff in there.

The staff you have now is ok. Stoops is a solid head coach but his loyalty to his assistants is stopping OU from winning Titles.

If OU had Chris Peterson that would be a huge advantage for you guys if he can carry over having a incredibly smart team from year to year.

Well, that's just them admitting they've thrown in the towel and wanted to avoid the appearance of a rout. But I agree it was not the smart thing. There's really no right decision on 4th and 10 deep in your own zone when you're down by 9, but 9 points in 2:30 is not something unheard of in football.

They are a legitimate top-15 football team which by their standards is low but many schools would die for. This reinforces what I said in the BSU thread.... no one has a "decade of dominance" or anything like that in college football anymore. Teams have their down years where they are rebuilding and then they have their years where everything comes together and they can make a run at a championship. Texas and OU are having a down year this year, but I have no doubt each will be contenders again in the near future.

I'm glad they finally lost. It was clear the OU wasn't as good as many where throwing out there. I kind of likened them to Cincinnati of last year. A good team who was winning all their games, but wasn't winning convincingly. You knew at some point that where going to face a really good team and get beaten.

At least they weren't completely and utterly embarrassed / exposed like Cincinnati was. Though if they had actually played a top 5 team the way Cincinnati did, that could have happen. (I stress *could have*, not that they would have.)

I've "pumped" (lol) Boise all year.

And my fandom isn't for Miami.

My fandom is for Miami, Texas, USC, Nebraska and whoever else I decide im a fan of for that year.


I watch College Football because

A: It's Football

B: It lets me know more about the players I want in the draft.

No problems here saying that the OU loss took some of the sting out of the Texas loss as well as the Texas season. Plain and simple OU fans do not care for Texas and the feeling is mutual. Heck I hope to see OU drop a couple more before the season is done. :laugh2:
