So I accidentally wash my phone yesterday. I took the simm card and battery out and put it all in a bag of rice to draw all the moisture out. How long do you think it will take for the rice to draw all the moisture out before I attempt to turn it back on to see if it still works?: :D

I would leave it at least 24 hours. Definitely look for signs of moisture before trying to turn it back on.

Take it out of the bag as it can cause condensation. Bury it in the middle of a bowl of rice and leave it for a week...

+1.

Hopefully you didn't try to turn it on after you dropped it in the water, thats bad news.

I would keep it in there for at least 24 hours. Better to be without a phone for 1+ days then to have to drop 200+ on a new one!

I think the phone was on when it got washed. Anyway, we'll see how it all comes out in a a few days. Simm card is OK, got all the data transferred to a new one.

Figured that. But it most likely shut off once you took it out of the water and after that, hopefully you didnt try to turn it on. Could short the circuits and then rice wouldn't help.

Didn't attempt to turn it on after taking it out of the wash.

I once dunked my cable remote in water and employed the same strategy by keeping it in my rice cabinet for a day,it really works.

It needed to be washed considering all the dirty phone calls you were making.

Well I allowed my phone to sit in rice for more than two days and turned it back on and it worked fine for about one day then kicked the bucket permanently last night. Guess it's time for a new one, the old one was more than 5 years old.

Thanks for all the help. :D

Next time wait a few more days and take a blow dryer to it after pulling it from the rice

lol, im serious though, i dropped a phone in the sewer once, cat pushed phone off the island into his water bowl, and GF dropped hers in a soda. took all of them apart as much as possible and put a blow dryer to them for more then and hour and all three lasted more than a year afterward
