I'm sure we would have been treated to daily scathing criticism of Tom Landry by many Cowboy fans.

But the only thing you read about Tom on the web is how revered he was and is.

The point? I am convinced that a large percentage of internet Cowboy fans would gripe long and loud about any coach hired to lead this team.

I'm not at all suggesting Parcells or any coach or player should be above criticism. Its just how definitive and repetitive it is that gets me.

Or maybe I'm just emotionally hungover from the end of the season.

count me in as emotionally hungover.

Well, as a Parcells "basher"...I'd have to strongly disagree.

Parcells invites harsh criticism because he is arrogant beyond words. His attitude toward fans...media...is pretty lousy.

For me, he invites harsh words that I would never have directed at Landry...or any other Cowboy coach, regardless of their record.

Oh..and btw, funny comment about Gore. :laugh2:

Coco2 stop bringing logic onto this board. Its openly loathed in these parts.

I was bashing Landry toward the end, I just didn't have a place to vent it.

I don't know what's worse..then or now that I have a place to vent.

Without Landry there wouldn't be a Dallas Cowboys or "America's Team". Without Parcells there would still be a Dallas Cowboys

Landry = Great football coach and a greater man.

Parcells = Very good football coach and a media *****/Drama queen.

There isn't any question that Tom was widely critized for the teams performance the last few years of his coaching career. I remember those days very well. Trust me when I say that there were many who said the game had passed him by. By the time Jimmy Johnson became our coach and said he had more talent at Miami (a college university) than he inherited from Tom, the tatters that our team was in was quite obvious to even the most die hard fan.

Despite all that, when you look at the body of work Tom put together during his career as a Cowboy, the inescapable conclusion is that he was one of the greatest coach and innovator in league history. Additionally, off the field, his private life and the contributions he made made him a pretty solid individual.

Sure there were many times I openly questioned some of the things he did. But I co go on and on about his accomplishments and am very proud he was our coach.

tom landry is one of if not the best football minds ever.

plain and simple....

Here's what I can't understand. This is a football forum, a place to celebrate, complain and analyze the Dallas Cowboys. Yet there is a disproportionate number of repetitive and uh.. 'definitive' posts complaining about the behaviour of other posters. Wolverine, Nors and any of the other usual suspects do not matter to me. Bill Parcells and the direction in which he's taking this team, does matter.

Very good point.
Communications and the media re too convenient and accessible these days. We are able to criticise how someone drinks their morning coffee before they even pour it. People need to lay off and worry about the more important things.

Poster : I've never been so embarrassed by the Cowboys in my life, 3-13, incredible. That old fossil in the stupid retro fedora needs to have his azz booted out of Valley Ranch. The game passed him by 10 years ago. Oh please give me a coach like
Bill Parcells, one who understands the game as it is now, not what it was 20 years ago. The stupid flex defence hasn't worked since Super Bowl XII.

Poster II: Amen brother, that former Giant we have as head coach, has to go. He has tarnished his image beyond repair. Baldy needs to grow a pair and quit. Give me a coach with man boobs like Parcells any day.

Hey...it's really nice to see people remember how great a coach Landry was....

I think for those of us who have been fans for a long time, we have more issues with Parcells because he's simply not a "Cowboy"...

This team has never had a coach who has been a head coach in the NFL, prior to becoming the Cowboy's coach....AND that this coach came from a hated division rival AND brings up their names all too often, simply makes thing more difficult to stomach.

But mostly, I think, if you experienced the class of Landry...and then the exhuberance of Jimmy....it's kinda difficult to warm up to Parcells spewing venom, never smiling, etc.

I didn't know Nors and Wolverine was a member of the Zone back in '89. :D

Juke man, you're all over the place, did you not in another thread, say that you enjoyed Parcells in New York because of his tirades?

Dear GOD,
I really hope he was joking with the "Gore would have created the Internet sooner" comment was a joke. But with people today they sometimes belive what they are told.
