If JG stayed 1 more year could the Cowboys have drafted Justin Herbert?

The Dolphins had the 5th pick in the 2020 Draft and they were aggressively trying to acquire either the number 1 pick or an established veteran. Dak was on the franchise tag. JG seemed super high on Justin Herbert. He said that he would chose him over any QB to start a franchise with. There is no way to know how he felt about Herbert before the draft but it's hard not to play the what if game. IMO if JG was super high on Dak then the Cowboys would have extended him after Goff and Wentz got paid. Something like Dak for the 5th pick and an additional 2021 1st rounder would have been ideal. We would be in much better shape salary cap wise for the next 3 seasons and we would have a better QB.

Doubtful. Jerry doesn't like spending a high pick on a QB. He'd rather get lucky with a longshot so that he can say look how smart I am.

Yeah. The we like our guys approach is the most likely outcome. However, imo JG had to play a role in Dak not getting an extension when Goff and Wentz did. JG was absolutely gushing over Herbert last night.
