If Larry Allen Restructures

If suggested this before in other threads, but I'm now really warming up to the idea of putting Larry Allen at center:

- His career would last longer
- He stays in Dallas
- He would always get his hands on a defender
- He would almost never have to pull and run in space
- He would never be bullrushed backwards into Bledsoe
- He could be the only player in history to go to the pro bowl at 5 different OL positions

The downsides:
- He still has to restructure
- We already have two 2nd round picks at the position
- Shotgun snaps would be tough to learn
- Seriously macho, he may not be willing, to be so, ah, intimate with Bledsoe

Any thoughts?

Larry Allen isn't agile enough or quick enough to get to the second level as a center.


Plus, you put in there "learning the shotgun snap". What about learning to snap, period? It's not just about getting the ball to the QB. It's getting there quickly, and securely.

It's a nice idea because I think Allen can still be effective but Center would probably be a tough fit because the biggest problem for LA right now is getting to the second level and not missing his block if/when he gets there.

I went back and watched the Lions game to get a look at Kosier and wound up watching our o-line too. Al Johnson had a decent game, but thing I noticed was how mobile he was. He pulled left and right with pretty good quickness and he got to lb's fairly quickly. The cowboys, at least in this game, ask the Center to pull alot, and I don't think that's LA's strong suit at this point. When he pulls lately, he seems to miss.
