I read this kind of comment a lot, and I completely disagree because it is based on the assumption if Dak goes down it has to be for the rest of the season. Obviously some injuries may only keep a player down a few games or a month, and if that's the case just having someone who could win one or two games might be enough to keep the team afloat until Dak returns

this... the people you put on pup do not count against the 53 man once its 24 hours after the cut down day. you get the roster down to 53, tenured vets that get cut do not have to go through the waiver process so you can have a wink wink handshake deal with them to bring them back 24 hours later. hence why Rush and Maher got cut. Cowboys get down to 53, 24 hours later put Tyron and Washington on PUP, now you are back down to 51 on the roster and then you can add Rush and Maher back on the team and get back up to 53 players.

And I would say you were 100% right if we had a line similar to the one in 16 with Zack fredbeard and Tyrone in their prime.

Something like that would give a backup quarterback a puncher's chance of winning some games.

As it is I'll be happy if Dak can escape with his life
