If the coaches we didn't interview turn their teams around, how do we feel?

How would you feel if the coaches we drug our feet on interviewing have a good or better season than we do? Would it even be a surprise at that point? Would even affect Jerry in any way seeing these coaches we didn't give a chance to have success?

To be petty I hope they go undefeated lol, please give your thoughts!!

Really don't care. Just like DQ went to Washington and a owner wanting to win. That has nothing to do with the Cowboys. It certainly won't affect Jerry in any way. We know know he cares about.

It is a tricky question based on the person doing the interviewing and hiring. Jerry Jones has not really modified his interview process beyond what he did before hiring Dave Campo. From the AP (link):

Jones' 15-day search for a coach hardly extended outside team headquarters, but he described it Wednesday as "a thorough, thorough decision on my part."

Dave Campo was a thorough, thorough decision on his part.

If you, the fan, already have a mindset Jones will not make the best hire, you should already be prepared to face the possibility of a 'missed' hire having a better season elsewhere. Maybe it would be better feeling a certain way at the time Jones does not hire the coach, rather then stew months or years before that coach paints Jones' decision to not hire him in a negative light.

Would it even be a surprise at that point?
No. Jones' history suggests he misses on coaches far more often than he hits on them.

No. Of course not. Never make the mistake that Jones feels the same way as you do about his decision-making.

thorough interview, who did he pay to have someone print that. He thoroughly went around the building, asked a few players and staff what they felt about the lone ranger in shotty! lol

I just don’t see how you can have Mike, DQ, and Bones in house and you end up with Schotty?! Bizarro land
I think we're all confused by this, if anything if Mike gets hired, wouldn't he just take shotty with him?

He had Al Harris as Assistant Head Coach and never even interviewed him. Hate to bring up the obvious but there is one thing that all of his Head Coach hires have in common and I don't mean they all speak with a deep voice

Couldn't be because they're all tall???:rolleyes::muttley:probably the reason why we didn't see the Jets new coach gets a chance,we only waste time with the Leslie Fraziers of the world to fulfill a rule that's being joked around!!

Those coaches have a fighting chance. They arent answering to or having the culture set by our "football guys".

what difference would it make?

success in one location doesn't mean equal success in another.

Yeah the DQ one is super puzzling. Would love to here the true inside scoop on that one because I thought it was a foregone conclusion that if they didn't win the next year, he would take the HC after firing MM. As we all know, Jerry kept MM instead and basically flushed a whole year down the toilet for nothing. Maybe DQ knew this was going to happen and took himself out of the running knowing JJ wouldn't be supportive of his first year due to the loss in the playoffs the year before. No idea...

There is or was a small skirmish on X between Bryan Broaddus and some dude on how much does a coach impact a team vs the players. In answer to your question, it depends on whether you think the coaches or the players make the bigger difference. Broaddus was arguing that it's not Quinn that has improved the Commanders as much as it has been Jayden Daniels playing much better than anyone expected.

This has been my argument about Quinn. Did he improve Dallas's defense that much, or was it Micah Parsons arriving the same time Quinn did? I think it is a little of both but I think it was mostly Micah Parsons.

Washington's defense is average at best. They finished behind Dallas in rushing yards allowed per game on defense. Given their DTs, and the LBs they signed, that seems to be an underperformance for them. Is that Quinn?

I am not saying HC can't make a difference. Clearly Sean Peyton knows what he is doing since he turned Denver around pretty quickly - also with a rookie QB.

My feeling is coaches do not help as much as they can hurt a team.

Well, there's no question that the Jets will be better; they can't be worse.
There's no way the Bears aren't better as the coach is going to set the QB up for more success.

It may take a while to make the playoffs, but both teams will be better.

If Jerry doesn't get more active in free agency, at least attack the second tier players instead of waiting for the bargain basement, we may be even worse.

Even if we resign Dowdle, Osa, Lewis, and Kendricks, we are desperate for
  • DT
  • LB
  • CB
  • WR
  • RB
And I seriously mean desperate! We need another run stuffer inside; we need a LB because Overshown will miss most or all of next season; we need CB help because Diggs will miss most or all of next season, and two of our depth pieces were injured; we are desperate for a RB who can create a big play to keep the defense honest...I love Dowdle's effort, but defense don't care if he makes 1 or 2 eight yard runs a game...they aren't changing their game plan because of him.

In my opinion, we are most desperate at WR because the offense will never be what we need it to be with just Lamb and a bunch of bums who cannot get open. When we had the greatest 88, Michael Irvin, the team still had to constantly look for a #2 who could beat defenses.

Nepotism, the good ol' boy system, and something else I am not allowed to say here.

OSA doesn't fix our problem, we need to replace and get 2-3 guys with the price he's going to want
