If we hire Norv, what do we do when Garrett and Rivera get head coaching gigs?

Do we really want to scramble to find top notch coordinators every time one of ours pulls a Sean Payton?

It seems to me that being forced to rely on top-notch coordinators to cover up the deficiencies of the head coach isn't a very sound strategy for long-term, consistent success.

Norv couldn't even win with Mike Nolan as DC.

We know going in Rivera will probably be gone in a year but we want him to come and install an agressive system and train someone else like Bowles how to run it. Garrett will not get a call for HC from another team for 2-3 years. He is just too inexperienced. By the time he is ready to be a HC, Turner will be shown the door.

Besides those close to Norv Turner have reportedly already stated he only wants to coach a few more years. Besides we will be signing both Garrett & Riveria if we get him to at least 2-3 year long contracts. If Norv Turners fails, he will be out the door rather quickly. If he succeeds to the extent we might hope for, then we can worry but to worry that other teams might still our OC & DC out from under us before we even field our 07 team is something to worry about much further down the road.

Garrett isn't going anywhere...I'd bet on that.

Rivera might, but he has a big job to do with our screwed up, overpaid, underachieving defense before he gets offerred a head job.

Norv has stated he only wants to be HC for a short periods of time, perhaps only 2 or 3 years. One of those guys (probably Garrett) will step into the HC position then.

This sums it up perfectly.

I agree. Make Garrett or Rivera head coach now. Bite the bullet.
Hire Rivera on Monday. He's a better candidate imo than Turner anyway.
