Our weakness has been running QB's. Hurts is going to hurt us with his legs.
Yeah like he did the last two times he played us.:rolleyes: Not to bang on Hurts but let’s give this defense it’s respect. The defense has destroyed every quarterback it has gone up against this season. Hurts will be the 4th best quarterback that we have played so far. Relax…..

Yes, it looks like Doomsday III. Only giving up 14 and half a game.

And that is with a somewhat hobbled parsons

nice work!

This defense is so much fun to watch. I've been an avid Cowboys fan since 1977, and this is the most exciting defense I've seen since Doomsday 2. Don't bring down my high!
I agree however that claim was made 2 or 3 weeks ago by a Zoner.

Lots of fun right now .. but too early to anoint them "Doomsday."

It would actually be Doomsday IV-
  • Doomsday I- 1966-74- 2 NFC Championships and one Lombardi. Bob Lily was the anchor along with Lee Roy Jordan, Mel Renfro, and Chuck Howley. Lily retired in 74 and so did Jordan and Howley.
  • Doomsday II- 1975-82- 3 NFC Championships, and a Lombardi- this was led by Randy White, Harvey Martin, Too Tall Jones, Cliff Harris, Hollywood Henderson.
  • Doomsday III- 1991-1996- 3 NFC Championships, 3 Lombardis. Led by Charles Hailey, Deion Sanders, James Washington, and Darren Woodson.
So if this defense can join the previous 3 Doomsdays, it will be Doomsday IV. But we shouldn’t crown them that until they earn it in the playoffs.

I'll agree that they are looking like Doomsday, but you don't get that title less than a third of the way through the season. Hopefully by the end of the season we're still comparing them to the greatest Cowboys defenses.

I think the first two were both just lumped into Doomsday. Probably because we had the same coach. It was more of a continuation of Doomsday.

Yeah but it was completely different personnel. That’s why there’s a difference between I and II. Bob Lily retired in 1974 and Randy White was drafted in ‘75.
