I'm cautiously curious about Schotty

I'm cautiously curious about Schotty. I'm not expecting anything massive for the 2025 season, and we will certainly see if the Joneses will give him any help soon enough. However, I did like the points of emphasis he had. I like how he wants to put an emphasis on the run game and play action. Those are areas that are a strength of this offense. Plus, by virtue of this emphasis, it's bound to give us more time of possession. Given the schedule that we will have in 2025, I'm not expecting a great record, but I'm curious to see the system he puts in place. I like how he seems inclined to play to our strengths. Compared to some of the other options like Kellen Moore or Jason Witten, Schotty has at least paid his dues as an assistant for a long time to get to this point. I do think he was deserving, given that, of a HC job. I can at least appreciate that he's not someone who was just plucked from a HS rank.

That being said, I have some concerns about Schotty. Firstly, I'd have liked to have heard his points of emphasis on the defence. I understand that's probably an aspect that he's probably wanting to defer to Eberflus, but I'd at least have liked, since he's the head coach, a general idea of what points of emphasis he wants. Does he want more physical trenches? In fact, going to point two with a connection to my first concern, I'm left pondering the culture that Schotty is going to try to install. I'm not expecting a highly successful season this year. Besides our division rivals, we play the AFC West and the NFC North among others. So, the record and aiming for high success in 2025 is not my expectation. What I am expecting and wanting to see is what culture Schotty wants to bring. Culture building coaches has been the building block of a lot of the successful franchises the last few seasons, between Quinn in Washington, Reid in KC, Campbell in Detroit, Sirianni in Philly, etc. I am curious what culture he wants to install. I also want to know how resilient the culture is that he's going to install. How strong is it going to be if we start 2025 with a 1-5 record? Will he stick with it?

Finally, my their concern is how much help are the Joneses going to give him? Let's be honest, they have Mike not much help and expected a championship. Have the Joneses learned their lesson? How much pressure do they feel seeing the Chiefs dynasty and seeing Philly in the Super Bowl again? I didn't appreciate Stephen doing air quotes in a manner that was mocking us fans with legitimate concerns about this team and the drought we have. It's not made up thing. It really is a drought. The longest in the NFC for championship game appearances. So, are the Joneses serious about winning? Or are they going to leave Schotty hanging dry? How patient are they going to be with him? These are all things we will find out soon enough.

So, while I still have a lot of concerns, I am going to approach this offseason with a sense of cautious curiosity. I think Schotty can be a good coach. My concern is the level of help they are going to give him. Since they did what they did with Mike, it's incumbent in the FO to give this new coaching staff the tools necessary to succeed. Otherwise, you're just giving a plumber a rubber duck, and expecting him to completely remodel the bathroom.
