I'm impressed with Cam Newton...

Im impressed too.

Guy is a hard worker. Bigtime leader. Amazing physically and has all the raw skills needed.

If you are a good coach you should be able to groom this guy into something special.

With the right situation, he could be incredible.

Well I agree about Tebow, nobody really knew VY was a head case in 06. I will say that if Newton makes it past the Cowboys, Danny boy will jump all over him at 10.

Funny thing is that I've been telling everyone VY was a head case since 2001...

and I think you are right about Snydely...

I don't know much about the guy, but he does know how to win. I like winners, no matter how they get it done.

The 1 and only thing that scares me about Cam Newton is he lacks quality accuracy and thats a big thing.

But he is a good enough thrower imo and is going to be able to buy time in the pocket like none other.

That's strange because in Marriucci's mock draft he has the Commanders taking Julio Jones at number 10, that would be a surprise pick for sure if that happens.

I agree though if Newton is there at 10, then I see the Commanders pouncing on him.

he looked like one of the worst Qb's in the throwing potion. I thought he looked terrible.
I saw Newton throw too and while he has all of the physical skills you would look for in a QB, he was really off on his throws yesterday.

That being said Cam has some work to do with learning the complexities of an NFL offense being that Auburn ran a gimmick offense and if he's taken in the top 10, which I think he will then that team will take a huge gamble with this guy as their quarterback.

I'm hoping Cam lives up to the hype that the media has on him but as far as the "icon", and "entertainer" comment he made he should've worded it differently but he cleared it up during an interview at the combine.

I too, was impressed by him being unable to throw anywhere close to the WR's on a simple 10 yard out route. He threw it into where the benches would have been 2 out of 3 tries.

It's one thing to not have timing with the WR's, its another to miss them by 10 yards.

This.

When will people understand that college gimmick offense QB's dont work in the NFL?

Extremely doubtful IMO.

His stats are vastly over-inflated by a gimmick spread offense. He does not throw with accuracy and is probably years away from understanding NFL offense and defense schemes.

None of these spread offense guys has turned into anything. Until the NFL starts playing that type scheme (which I hope is never, because it sux), I doubt any of them ever will.

He is like Tebow in that respect . Look at all the grief he gets.

If the spread offense alone wasn't a thing to scare you off, the fact that he only played one year is. I don't like one year wonders at all.

I heard he also made a 48 on the Wonderlic. The exact same score McElroy made. The amazing thing is he missed the exact same question McElroy missed! :laugh2:
