Last season, only eleven teams had an offensive line combination that played together for over 50% of its team's offensive snaps. This means the same five people playing the same position week in and week out. Of those eleven teams, ten made the playoffs, the exception being the 49ers.

GB 80.82%
Buf 79.12%
Bal 70.71%
LAC 63.91%
TB 61.43%
Det 60.91%
Pit 59.02%
KC 58.48%
SF 57.12%
Den 55.17%
Phi 53.05%

For comparison, we clock in at 39.76%.

Not only is a consistent lineup important, but having capable backups that can step in at every position is as well. Look at KC and Philly percentages. This might surprise people. Both teams place a great deal of emphasis on the o-line. Both teams did not miss a beat during the regular season due to a combination of good coaching and consistent line building. It was only in the Super Bowl that KC was finally overwhelmed by a monster-sized elite d-line.

This is one reason why I am okay with the Booker pick. We need a few plug and play o-linemen that can step in and do the job now. But I also hope that the coaches use training camp time wisely to put the right people in place and keep them there. The lines that play together the most usually get to the playoffs.

It is also why I am hoping to see a new body at DT or improvement from what we have. Having a top d-line that can take advantage of other team's weaker o-line units is almost a sure path to winning games. I'm not expecting to see Jalen Carter or Chris Jones saunter into camp, but a guy from the next tier down would be nice to add to the mix.
