I mean, I would've taken him in the 2nd over Schoonmaker, and it doesn't take a hindsight hero to say that. Schoon sucked.
But realistically, I think Overshown went about where he should have gone as a prospect. There were three other 3rd round LBs drafted that year, and two looked pretty darn promising. Not sure you could say that Overshown was a clear-cut round better than them.
-Daiyan Henley. If Overshown was a safety developing into an LB, Henley was like a safety trapped at LB. Super skinny tweener who was bad against the run, but uncommonly advanced in coverage. He was a comparable player to Overshown, but I liked Henley more. You could make the case that Overshown was the more well-rounded football player, but Henley's zone coverage was such a standout skill. He was drafted by the Chargers and is an every-down starter for them.
-Drew Sanders. This is a dude I loved. 6'5" DE/LB tweener who stuffed the stat sheet with tackles and sacks. Seemed like he had the ability to do it all. I thought he was a top 50 player... the Broncos drafted him and he's done literally nothing for them. I don't follow the Broncos and couldn't tell you why.
-Trenton Simpson. Athlete playing football. 4.4 speed, could jump out of the gym, had no idea where the football was going. He got 1st round buzz at one point, but I never liked him and the NFL didn't either. He's a rotational player on the Ravens.
