My mother-in-law has inflammtory breast cancer. IBC is a rare, rapid growing form of breast cancer, only 10% breast cancer people get it. The dr's said its too far gone to do surgery last October. My wife nor it seems my mother-in-law seem to want to know how to much longer she has, My wife is an only child and her mom is being very mean (understably), I just dont want her going downhill in like a two-weeks like my aunt it and having tension.

I asked a nurse she said 6-7 months.. its already been longer than that.

She still gets around fine and hasnt really lost that much weight. I know its tough to predict these things but any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that :(

I had a hard time parsing exactly what you were saying there. I got the gist of it, but it appears you were asking a question. I wasn't sure what that question was.

Sorry to hear about that. I lost my mother to cancer too, but she had Esophageal Cancer which has an extremely poor mortality rate also.

Thanks for the support. I guess my question is.. if anybody knows approximately how much time she still has? And the cancer forums aren't really helping.

Sorry man, that isn't a exact science. Just enjoy the time you do have. My wife's mother had cancer and they thought they cured her, but two years later she got sick one day and had to go to the hospital. The cancer flared up again. 36 hours later she was gone. My mother lived for about a year before it overtook her.

Sorry to hear the news....The prognosis depends on the particular case and so the best option would be to talk with the doctor. The 5-year survival rate for IBC patients with metastasis(spread to other organs in the body) is somewhere around 25%.

With most Cancers of this type - as soon as it spreads to the organs - that is when it goes down hill fast.

I too am very sorry to here this news. I am sorry that I have no useful advice on this kind of cancer. I hope that the time all of you have left is spent well. Good luck to you all.
