While this wouldn't be my favorite choice. With the weight gain and the announcement of his measurables. With a good combine the guy might even be out of reach of the Cowboys 9 pick. Good movement and the Romo injury this would be the greatest value pick IMO. Dallas has too much time and money invested in Romo to not keep him on the field.

Atlernative: Prince Amukamara, Trade Down

RD2 Rahim Moore S UCLA
Dallas needs a FS and heres the guy for the job. Always round the ball and a good tackler. Above Average coverage skills. Good centerfield type of safety.

RD3 Cameron Heyward DE Ohio State
Im Sure He'll move up draft boards when he runs at his proday. But right now he's not and if he has a poor showing at his proday. He will fall.

RD4 Nate Irving ILB NC State
Tackling machine and would sit behind James for a couple yrs learning the system. That and would spell James on them passing downs. Very solid depth pickup and a look at the future.

RD5 Kendric Burney CB UNC
Good solid tough CB. You can never have too many CBs in todays league where teams will line up 4 wide on a consistent basis.

RD6 John Clay RB Wisconsin
Starting to like the idea of replacing Barber with a inexpensive wrecking ball. Could end up being Dallas' FB.

RD7 Andrew Jackson G Fresno State
Pat Hill just knows how to develope OL. He is one of the best Guards in college football but was injured most of the yr. He would be a steal as a 7th round pick.

1 Tyron Smith OT USC 6-5 #307 - Quick feet off the snap. Good initial quickness to reach defenders that are shaded over him. Good positional blocker who will wall off defenders from the ball carrier. Has better than advertised strength for his size. Can drive defenders down the LOS on the play side or the back side of a play, allowing the ball carrier with a huge hole to run through or cut back through. Good mobility to pull and get up to the second level. His quick feet allow for him to be effective in pass protection. Slides out laterally well to mirror pass rushers and gets good depth on his kick slide. Plays with good balance and flashes a strong punch to jolt the pass rusher .
The only reason he did not start at left tackle was the presence of future first round pick Matt Kalil

if we trade down a bit maybe we can get a extra 2 - 3

but with Det sitting at 13 an Minn sitting at 12 McKinne is 31

so I really don't see a trade down

2 John Moffitt, G/C, Wisconsin 6-4 #314 -Big, experienced player with versatility to play either guard position or the pivot. Explosive off the snap and uses his hips to explode into the defender while staying low and maintaining leverage. Uses his hands well and has a strong punch. Can extend his arms well into the defender and "holds" effectively and deceptively. Is able to get movement as a run blocker, sealing or moving his man down the line of scrimmage to open cutback lanes. Plays with power and strength, and has a bit of nastiness in his game. Well-respected player who is coachable and high-character

not sure if we get an extra pick

2a - 3b BrandonBurton, CB, Utah 6 #185 - A fluid athlete with good feet and hips. Despite his stature, he prefers to play press coverage and gets a good jam on receivers. Easily flips his hips out of his back pedal to turn and run with the receiver down the field. Has the speed to close on a receiver's route. Maintains his balance well down the field and has good leaping ability to go up and break up passes

3 Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina 6-2 #205 - Big, physical strong safety who hits well, and is fairly fluid and agile. Can cover the requisite amount of ground to be a 4-down player, and has been very productive at a high level for one of America's best collegiate defenses. Will make receivers hear footsteps, and will have a shot at being one of the coveted true secondary enforcers in this draft.

4 Kelvin Sheppard, ISLB, LSU 6-2 #250 -Big, physical ILB. Thick, strong physique and plays a rugged game. Strong at the point and can take on interior lineman and FBs, and displays solid shedding technique. Smart and disciplined, honors his assignments and is rarely out of position. Good instincts and wastes few steps. Good speed and range. Solid in pass drops. Good tackler. Unquestioned leader of a fine defense.

5 Henry Hynoski FB 6-2 #260 Pitt - Big, nasty throwback FB who played in a pro-style offense. Hynoski has gotten better at catching the ball and is a load for any LB at the point of attack as a runner. Solid lead blocker. Better runner than you think. I believe if we can get this guy in here we won’t need a big power back. Unless we pick up one as UDFA

6 Cecil Shorts III , WR, Mount Union, 6 #200 - Serious speed, and a serious deep threat. Will catch in traffic and will catch across the middle. Will catch what he should. Good ups. Will fight for first downs. Adjusts well to the ball in the air. Will block. Can take a simple crossing pattern to the house in DIII.. Amazing statistical production.

7 Caleb Schlauderaff, G, Utah 6-4 #300 He had a team best 46 pancake blocks in 2010, starting 13 games at left guard.
Schlauderaff is a smart player who plays with toughness.
Gets the job done with his blocks as he goes full boar to the whistle. Has good upper body and lower body strength to drive defenders to the ground. Gets his hands on the defender most of the time. He shows the ability to pull around the center and get his hat on a defender, as well as making a block at the second level. Picks up blitzes and stunts well

7 round I would really like to get D Newtom - but don't think he lasts until the 7 - not sure if Kerey Woods does either

7 Korey Woods CB Southern Illinois 5-10 # 185 - The athletic Lindsey can shut down an opposing wide receiver or make a big hit on a tight end. He is a two-time selection on the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First Team, picking off six passes in each of the last two seasons - His quickness, ball skills, change of direction, and fluid hips are among the skills that few corners have making him one of the best in the nation

7 Derek Newton, OT/OG, Arkansas St. 6-5 #310 - He's quite mobile and agile, very athletic he can zone out and combo block, he moves smoothly to the second level and gets his hat on moving targets, LBs and DBs, Newton has some physical tools to work with, however he is not as polished as you’d like in his pass protection footwork. There is no doubt he needs to be bulked up and coached up
