Owner Jerry Jones said wide receiver Miles Austin has a sprained right MCL. Austin said he will undergo a MRI exam on Sunday.

"I had expectations for myself," Austin said. "It's early and with any injury, I'm going to be upset or down. I'm just going to get back in rehab and see what the problem is and try to fix it."

Austin has played well this preseason, including catching a touchdown pass tonight from Brad Johnson
Well, the early prognosis from Dr. Jerry Jones is encouraging. You never know until the MRI, but I'm hopeful he'll at least be available this season since it looks like the MCL and not the ACL.

The last two weeks have fired me up for what he can bring to this team.

Yep, his speed and Felix jones speed can really make this a difficult offense to defend.

Throw in Adam jones speed on punt returns which should get us better field position and we really could have another outstanding year on offense.

When I see austin run all I can think of his how wide open he was in the playoff game on the second to last drive, romo needed .5 second more and austin and romo would have been the heroes.

Just back from the game, Canty was back on the sidelines in the second half although he never came back in the game.

Cricket did come back in the game for at least one play and was just fine.

no worries on canty, he was ready to come back in on the opening drive. They chose not to bring him back in.

Its rogers and austin we have to be worried about.

The Austin injury is news to me, I never saw anything wrong. Great catch for his TD.

Loved Lowbers play tonight by the way, dude could have kept going for a tocuh down if Johnson had the arm to put it in front of him.

Symptoms of a medial collateral ligament injury tend to correlate with the extent of the injury. MCL injuries are graded on a scale of I to III.

* Grade I MCL Tear
This is an incomplete tear of the MCL. The tendon is still in continuity, and the symptoms are usually minimal. Patients usually complain of pain with pressure on the MCL, and may be able to return to their sport very quickly. Most athletes miss 1-2 weeks of play.

* Grade II MCL Tear
Grade II injuries are also considered incomplete tears of the MCL. These patients may complain of instability when attempting to cut or pivot. The pain and swelling is more significant, and usually a period of 3-4 weeks of rest is necessary.

* Grade III MCL Tear

A grade III injury is a complete tear of the MCL. Patients have significant pain and swelling, and often have difficulty bending the knee. Instability, or giving out, is a common finding with grade III MCL tears. A knee brace or a knee immobilizer is usually needed for comfort, and healing may take 6 weeks or longer.

Fingers crossed for Austin. Of all the young receivers, the light really seems to have come on for this guy. It'd be a shame for him and his hard work if his opportunity were snatched away by this.

MCL is about the best news we could hear on Austin...

I'm a little happier..

Overall I think we survived without any signicant injuries. Hope Austin get backs soon.

Austin will be back in time for game 1 as our #3 receiver.

Of course if he had run his route correctly he would have caught a first down instead of being responsible for an INT. The pass was on target to where he should have been but he broke off his route for some reason. I realize it was just inexperience on his part but it proves he has a long way to go. I like his physical abilities but he has a lot to learn.
