It would be far more impressive if it didn't require fire in order to light.

Must be for people smart enough to remember the matches but dumb enough not to make sure they have more than a couple or people smart enough to bring the lighter but dumb enough to bring a nearly empty one.
 
I use a similar product called WetFire. Pretty much the same thing but it comes in marble size cubes that you can crush to make a bigger tinder pile, leave whole to burn longer, or break into smaller pieces to conserve. I carry a ferrite rod in my knife sheath to make a spark with and it usually only takes a couple of tries to get it lit. I carry WetFire in my mountaineering pack, hunting pack, first aid kit, survival kit, and my truck. The old Scouts trick of rubbing cotton balls in Vaseline and storing in a Zip Lock bag works good too, or you can even use crayon shavings.
