Interesting defensive stats, 1st in pressure rate (45.4%), but 16th in sacks (21)

Title says it. We got two quality corners in Bland and Gilmore, decent safeties (albeit good dropoff from last year), LB is a weak link even with bell, but looks like our pass rush is doing something right, but yet not quite finishing.

Also fwiw, were 4th in run defense in ypc.Seems like last two years that was our Achilles heel, but yet were stopping it cold and yet even with all that it didnt seem to help last night.

Thoughts?

It's very similar to last season. We started off with a crazy sack rate then went off a cliff when Brown went down in the secondary. Same thing this year with Diggs. I guarantee if you look at the sacks per game prior to and after Diggs went down, it plummeted. The secondary just not giving them the extra half step to get home.

Diggs in there were making the QB wait just a td longer. Definitely hurts their pash rush.

Muchas gracias.

It is strange. I tried multiple times to edit the clip so that it starts at the correct timestamp but it always reverts back to the very beginning. Maybe it has something to do with the clip only playable on YouTube..?

YouTube's weird sometimes.

Oftentimes you need coverage and pass rush to work in unison in order to put up huge sack numbers. I think the Dallas secondary has been fine, but not great since Diggs went down. Opposing QBs are able to get the ball out instead of hesitating that last moment that is needed for the defensive line to get home.

I also think opposing teams are so afraid of the Dallas pass rush that they are building their entire game plan around trying to not give the Cowboys rushers as many chances to really get after the QB.

It also does not help that Dallas really doesn’t have that second dude that is capable of putting up 10+ sacks next to Parsons. They have a whole mess of guys that can chip in anywhere between 4-8 sacks for a season, but no one else that really can turn on the heat every play.

What's opposing QB's QBR this season against Dallas?
afaik its not been crazy, Hurts had a 59.7 against us while against washington he had 87.4

Edit: he had a 59.6 vs the jets, which is odd cause of the interceptions he had in that game, while none vs us.

Could be affected by mobile QBs.

You might get pressure on guys like Daniel Jones, hurts, or some of the other more mobile QBs....but they're more likely to squirt away from trouble than a lead footed QB would.

I havent seen too many qbs run over us, even hurts was sticking in the pocket a good bit.

Our secondary is far from terrible, and while its not Revis island level shutdown, with that pressure rate youd think youd see a lot more rushes getting home. Just wondering if that pressure rate is kinda bunk cause often times i see the qb able to sit in there and wait for a gap in coverage to open up.

Only four teams have more interceptions than the Cowboys. What causes those? Pressure. I'll take picks over sacks all day long.
