First I would like to say Im a cheesehead but I do like the Cowboys. Its a long story but theyre my second favorite team. So I dont want to be the typical fan whos saying my teams better and blah blah. I just want to say good game and give you guys some heads up on different things because I like reading here and finding great sports news not only of the Cowboys but everything else. Anyways...
In the last game against Detroit the Packers D played 68 snaps. Of those the Packers were in the base defense 25 times (36.8%), Nickel 20 times (29.4%), and dime 23 times (33.8%). Thats on D.
Offensively the Packers lined up with 3 or 4 recievers 60.3% of the time against Detroit and only 53.4% against the Vikings. Packers got Jordy Nelson involved last week and he ended with 29 snaps and 2 catches, one for a score that he made a really good double move for a 29 yard TD.
Packers Injuries:
Ryan Grant has had a lingering hamstring injury since begining of camp. Against Minny he put up almost 100 yards on 12 carries and one went for about 50 yards. Against Detroit he struggled and only had 20 yards on 15 carries. This may have been due to the Packers offensive line injuries. Grant should be limited in the Dallas game. In his place we will see Brandon Jackson who seems to struggle when running the ball however hes a huge target in the passing game. Think Kevin Faulk. Also we may see undrafted rookie Lumpkin take snaps. He had one rush in the game against Detroit where he bruised for 19 yards.
Scott Wells has had a back injury for some time now and has missed both opening games. We've seen the run game struggle without him and he could possibly be out this game however it seems he'll get the nod. If not Jason Spitz will move from Guard to Center and Daryn Colledge will move from bench to Guard.
Josh Sitton has had a knee injury that has also caused him to miss the first two games. He was a standout guard in camp however cant seem to get healthy and will most likely miss the game. His replacements are Daryn Colledge and workhorse Alan Barbre.
Ruvell Martin is the Packers 5th string wideout but broke his finger in practice. He missed last weeks game but has been playing in practice and making spectacular one handed grabs. He will most likely miss this weeks game.
James Jones has had a knee injury so far throughout the season and missed week one however played week two and looked spectacular at least in a WCO. He has played in all this weeks practice and should go this week.
Kabeer Gbaja Biamila has a knee injury however will play this week. Hes always limited and moves Cullen Jenkins to DT on passing downs. Hes practiced all week.
Chad Clifton has has a lingering knee issue all year however it seems to be fine and playable.
Brandon Chillar has a back problem but will most likely be available for limited play against Dallas.
Atari Bigby tweaked his bicep in last weeks game but it seems to be serious. He may not play this week against Dallas and in his replacement will be a 6'4" Aaron Rouse. Rouse played very poorly last week taking over where he either wiffed a tackle or misplayed on defense to allow 2 Calvin Jonson TDs.
Aaron Rouse has a sprained anckle however will play this week against Dallas if Atari does not play.
Charles Woodson has a broken toe however played Sunday and got two 4th quarter picks, both leading to TDs. He will play Sunday and most likely match up against TO instead of Al Harris who never plays well against TO. Woodson did no damage to his toe sunday and should be even better come Sunday. He didnt look slower out there and actually played some of his best football.
So theres the Packer injury report straight from a Packer fan. All Im going to say is that it wont be as easy for you as last year. Favre always does this thing where he thinks he has to make big plays against good teams and decided not to play the WCO. He ended up throwing 2 picks early and/or overthrowing recievers. Also TO was stripped by Harris but the play was called dead and not reviewable. Now the Packers get to run Rodgers from the get go and when he played the Packers more points than Dallas did. The better corner Charles Woodson was out of the game as well as pass pressure specialist KGB with a knee injury that messed the whole DL rotation the Packers play. The Packers will not play Jarrett Bush this year at CB who was once the target for many defenses. This year Tramon Williams and Will Blackmon will take over. Also instead of Koren Robinson returning kicks and punts it will be Will Blackmon and Tramon Williams. Packers have a healthier defense going into this game but have a very banged up offense at its most important positions; Running back and offensive line if Scott Wells does not play.
Have fun.
