Mayweather, Pacquiao talk at game

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the same arena? Can it be?

It happened Tuesday night, but it was not for a long-awaited showdown in the ring. Instead, both were courtside in Miami for the Heat game against the Milwaukee Bucks -- Mayweather next to the Heat bench and Pacquiao directly across from him on the opposite sideline.

Issac Baldizon/NBAE/Getty ImagesManny Pacquiao had a sideline seat at Tuesday night's Heat game, directly across from Floyd Mayweather's seat next to the Heat bench.
At halftime, the two welterweight champions and future Hall of Famers, whom the world has wanted to see fight, met briefly and spoke with each other.

"He gave his number to me and said we will communicate with each other," Pacquiao said, according to The Associated Press, adding that he had never before met Mayweather in person, although they previously talked on the phone and Pacquiao once appeared on one of Mayweather's undercards in 2001.

Asked to clarify whether the exchange meant the two would negotiate directly about meeting in the ring, Pacquiao said that was the case.

"We did meet and chat but I don't want to say what we discussed," Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser, who was with the boxers, said when reached by ESPN.com on his cellphone during halftime. "It was a private discussion. They had a private, friendly discussion, and that's all I really want to say."

MAN I want to see this fight happen. The WORLD does. Come on guys, May 2!!

Manny is a great champion.

But unless he catches Mayweather real good and lays a 10 punch combination on him.

Manny will be outclassed that night.

Probably 10 rounds to 2... Maybe only 1 round for PAC.

Mayweather is too good.
If that doesn't play out to be true.

Mayweather is too smart. Won't allow himself to get caught.
If that doesn't play out to be true.

Mayweather can hit and run all night.

Mayweather may knock him out!

All if this and I am a pacquiao fan.
Mayweather has never come close to losing or getting knocked out... Or severely hurt for that matter.
Mosley was let in and Mayweather got a little rocked. Nothing happens that he doesn't want to have happen.

Its unbelievable that Mayweather has never been knocked down in his career. I agree that Mayweather is too good to lose that fight, I don't think he would knock Pac out but he would undoubtedly out box him.

For the most part I think PAC could survive without getting knocked out..... But....

Marquez ain't that good and he caught him with a thunder shot (I still think he cheated somehow) but who knows....

Mayweather somehow has become somewhat of real power puncher (I think he was actually doing steroids and deflecting that story onto PAC) who knows.,..

Either way... He has knockout power now.... Where he didn't really have it early on to middle of career.

This fight just doesn't even interest me anymore. Bout six years to late.

These guys are 37 and 36 years old.

They will build this up until they are both ready to retire ...... and will then bank the biggest Superfight pay off of all time.

These guys are not stupid ....... or at least their handlers are not.

Mayweather is all the marketing.

I'm sure their "meeting" was a brainstorming session on how to hype up the fight. Perhaps mortal enemies? Some fistacuffs?

It's all $cripted from here on out.

THIS.

And this is why I quit watching boxing years ago.

Too much about the pay and not about the good match ups.

There is no way there should be a sport that has these two great fighters not fight in their prime only because one or the other decides they don't want to and blame it on this or that or the money.

It's pretty well known in boxing circles that Pacquiao was cycling in years past. That's why he would never take the fight. He stopped and the reason he stopped is to get this fight, according to rumors. I don't know if Mayweather is using or not. Nothing would surprise me though. Generally, I agree that Mayweather will simply win it on points. I don't see Pacquiao able to land enough punches to win. Mayweather doesn't really throw the flurries he used to. Now he comes in, lands two or three punches in a combination and ties you up. He will say away and just outpoint you. I don't really think this will be a very good fight but I hope I'm wrong. Boxing really needs a good fight and this is the biggest one out there.

I wouldn't put it past Mayweather, pacquiao or Marquez to be using steroids.

Mayweather got older and developed this punishing punch?
Pacquiao went on that long run of destroying fighters in all weight classes.
Marquez knocked out pacquiao with what seemed like a mule kick.

Mayweather.... When you point the finger about someone using steroids... Remember 3 of those fingers point back at him.

Heh heh

Yeah, pretty much.

Are you a College Football fan? Jump on over to the Signing Day thread and lets argue about who got the best Fullback to sign and which college coaches screwed their signing class most!

LOL.......

Lol.. No arguing....

No college football for me :)

Good enough. If anybody asks, tell them you are a Texas fan. Lie if you have too!

Funny story.

In the 90s... Cowboys were dominant team. I was cowboy fan obviously.

My cousin. Not a sports fan.

One day someone asked him, who do you like?
His reply was, my cousin (me) says the cowboys are gonna win.
So that's who I am going with.

So yes. I can do that.

Lol
