I found an interesting video on Tim Tebow's throwing motion and thought I would throw it up here. I know the video has nothing to do with the Cowboys but the break down was pretty interesting none the less.

The throwing motion breakdown shows some pretty cool stuff that, even though it seems like small stuff, really affects the speed of the delivery and the outcome of the play.

I would love to see them analyze Romo, whom I think has the quickest release in the NFL right now. Tebow's new motion clocks at around 330ms (compared to 390ms with his old delivery), I wonder what Romo's would clock at? Of course a lot of the outcome is decided not only by the throwing motion but by the decision speed of the respective QB.

I am not sold on Tebow, far from it, but maybe this is a step in the right direction. We will see come gametime.

He's spent his entire life throwing that loopy goofy motion of his. 3 or 4 months of throwing it NFL style isn't going to erase years of muscle memory. Put him under heat of a LB'er coming off the edge that's faster than he's ever had to deal with at Florida, and the DE's are going to be picking off passes when Teblows goes back to his instinctual throwing motion.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Habit is hard to break and he has had that throwing motion for so long that it is ingrained into him.

Still will be interesting to watch.

The front four of the North squad ate him alive. In that one game alone he showed that he's not an NFL caliber QB.

Well, if you put him above 5000' suddenly he becomes the next Joe Montana.

It's good for the league if he does well. That said, most quarterback revert back to what they have always done (Bryon Leftwich for example) and those with a slow delivery normally get eaten alive in this league. That said, the issue in my mind isn't the loopy motion, its how quickly he can get the ball out of his hands once he makes the decision to throw and gets everything in motion.

Bernie Kosar had a very goofy delivery, but the made a good pro because he had what it took between the ears and could make good decisions. A lot of Tebow's success will come (or not come) if he puts the time and dedication in to be a good QB. I wouldn't bet against him in being a productive player in time. With his natural athletic ability and brains, I think he will have a decent career. Maybe never an all pro, but more then a bus driver.
