my HS coach once told me at 7.5 ypa timing systems become high scoring passing games
he said it was designed that way ... "just throw slants, dumps, and double moves deep"

in the 25 games Dak has 7.5/+ YPA the team is 23-2, below 7.5 they're 9-14

in the 25 games above 7.5 he has 46 TDs, 3 INTs ... that's 23 of the 32 wins in the Dak era
the only 2 losses were this year in back to back games vs the Skins and Titans

if you look at Dak's 2018 stats vs QBs in similar timing systems headed to the playoffs
Brees, Rivers, and Wilson, his numbers are middle to low of the pack

if you look at their stats last half of 2018 Dak's are pretty good vs those QBs, in spite of 28 sacks and while working in Cooper and Jarwin. for example, sorted by total passing yards in games 9 - 16:

Dak 2,225
http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/2577417/dak-prescott
7.70 ypa, 71.6%, 12 TDs, 3 INTs, Sacks 28, Rushing TDs 4

Rivers 1,891
http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/5529/philip-rivers
8.40 ypa, 70.7%, 13 TDs, 7 INTs, Sacks 17, Rushing TDs 0

Wilson 1,657 http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/14881/russell-wilson
8.04 ypa, 65.0%, 17 TDs, 2 INTs, Sacks 26, Rushing TDs 0

Brees 1,656
http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/2580/drew-brees
7.89 ypa, 71.9%, 14 TDs, 4 INTs, Sacks 8, Rushing TDs 2

all of 4 them have great close game stats and Dak arguably the best 2 minute game

it is amazing to me Russel and Dak can take so many sacks and make enough plays
IMO, we go into an even game but, Dak he has a pretty hot hand and now familiar targets

two last stats
- the Boys are 17-0 when Dak has 8.0/+ ypa ... 17-0
- Dak is 25yo, the other QBs above are 30/+ ... it's a young man's game

Do you really believe that some posters in here will even understand what this single statement really means, let alone all those stats you provided?

Thanks for the great post, though. Dak will only get better. Give him a real QB coach and a modern OC and see.

Thanks for posting this and doing the research. I appreciate it.

no, I don't image some will actually think about the numbers, or even admit what they watched was impressive
they're stuck

I doubt we'll see a new QBC or OC, but give Dak a healthy OL and this team becomes very hard to beat

hard to guess how the playoffs will turn out - but coming out of camp in 2019 this will be an awesome offense

I think a new QBC and OC would do wonders for the team and especially for Dak's development. I'm tired of the players having to overcome the coaching rather than be improved by it.

Most will not read the entire post, and will just skim over it. Come to the same conclusion they always have and bring up other stuff to knock it down.

Not sure it it is because they don't want to read it or can't comprehend it.

I don't need to read all of this, it's the same as everything.

Selective, small data set to try to put Dak into a class of QBs he doesn't belong in.

So you've already formed an opinion based on nothing. Well done.

He's in his third year. There's plenty to base an opinion on. He's an average NFL QB right now. Trying to put him in a class with Brees, Wilson, Rivers, etc. is a fool's errand. You can pick a handful of games and do that for lots of quarterbacks.

The Cowboys also don't run a timing system. Passing offenses based on timing are dependent on QBs who throw with anticipation, and that's Dak's worst trait. Russel Wilson doesn't do it a whole lot either. I'm appreciative of the idea behind this thread, but the data set is a) too small and b) based on misconceptions of these offenses.

Concocted stats. Spin away.

Saturday will tell us everything we need to know about Dak and where he is.

This will be his 50th NFL start after 4 years in the SEC. The development period is over.
