Hey guys, I was driving home from work and happened to catch John Carlson on Sirius Radio. Pat Kirwan asked him a bunch of questions about what Carlson has seen on tape with the Cowboys. He obviously said he wouldn't give the gameplan away but the first thing he mentioned was how Dallas' CB's like to play soft coverage a lot during the game. He said that YAC yards and breaking tackles would be key in winning this game.

So with that being said, do you think this is the key to the game? If our CB's can play with great instincts like they did last week, and tackle really well, we should beat the Seahawks pretty easily.

31-13 Cowboys :starspin

YAC and breaking tackles sounds like Miles Austins' plan. :)

Dude, really? You have to blast a guy for sharing what pretty much everyone else on this forum didn't know Carlson said?

Yes, we all know the Cowboys usually play soft coverage but, he was just sharing some info.

exactly....this is the kind of threads this forum DOES need....Dallas Cowboys football talk....not TMZ:D

You know, YAC and breaking tackles is a big key to winning every game. :laugh2:

I mean, breaking tackles is what makes a good running back. If your running back can't break tackles it won't matter how fast he is, he still sucks. (see Julius Jones)

I think it's a big clue as to what others see as our problems. And right behind safety play is the tackling of the CBs which has been subpar excepting the last game.

So I think it's very germane. It's always good to know what your enemy is thinking.

Thanks guys who support the thread; just wanted to talk some X and O's. Like dadymat said, not everything has to be TMZ around here and or something to complain about. Just sharing some info as to what the opponent thinks of us.

Not exactly a huge shock. Anyone who has watched game film of us this year knows that we are very spotty at tackling. So the smart thing to do is if you have players capable of getting serious YAC have them take short passes and force us to make the tackles right away-something we have not been consistent at at all.

I think he was yawning about what Carlson said, not the actually posting of the information.

I think it's interesting to talk about what the gameplan for Seattle will be, and see how accurate we are. Seattle already has the west coast offense which predicates on short, quick and intermediate passes. We dominated Seattle last time just because we knew to jump the short routes all the time, and got numerous sacks. I think Seattle will look at that Thanksgiving game, and see how Dallas was sitting on the short and intermediate routes all night, and call for some double moves and play-action to catch our CB's being lazy. Whosyourmama isn't really a deep threat but Burleson has really come on this year. I look for them to call some double moves for Burleson. Jenkins has been playing lights out and hopefully will bring his A game and not get caught looking in the backfield.

good thoughts here....I agree they'll take their shots downfield IF H-beck is physically able..if not.....long day because they shouldn't be able to run with that makeshift oline....JRat or no Jrat.....

Cowboys win 27-20. Closer than people think IMO......

Some other reasons you were able to pressure and dominate last year were injuries to the o-line. I know walter tried to gut it out but he knee just would not let him perform. He gave up two sacks to ware that day. I think that was the only time in his career that he gave up two sacks in a single game. We also had no recievers to speak of. We were literally signing guys from the street to come in and play. So you didn't really have to defend against the deep threat because we had nobody that was a deep threat. Plus matt got hurt even more that game and was done for the season. Good day for the cowboys. Bad day for the seahawks.

This year if your looking for the deep pass pay attention to deion butler. Odds are if they take a chance down field it will be with him. He is the fastest reciever on the team. He broke all of bobby engram's recieving records at penn state. If we have anybody thats a deep threat its that guy. The other recievers are YAC guys or possesion guys. Of course with the shape of our o-line it could be really hard pull off a long pass.

This link has highlights of the hawks vs jags games and its a pretty good example of how our recievers tend to play. The o-line if the weakness on offense.

Something that is pretty funny on that clip is about two minutes in one of our defensive end catches a ball and has a lane to the endzone but decides to go hit the QB instead of scoring. To each their own I suppose.
