Poona Ford - 27 years old 5'11" 311lbs - Had a down year last year after a scheme change, so should be on the cheap.
Calais Campbell - 37 years old 6' 8" 300 lbs - Old as dirt, but can play on the inside in a 4-3. Would be a rotational guy. Kick the tires type of signing.
Greg Gaines - 27 years old 6'1" 313lbs - Another guy on a down year, but is a decent wide body with a decent first step.

Pickings are pretty slim, but I would go for Greg Gaines. Seems like a good value.

Campbell likely wouldn’t come to play 4-3 DT. Gaines has super short arms that Quinn doesn’t typically prefer.

Hankins or Watkins quick be back

I am hoping for Hankins and a high draft pick at this point.

Or a strategic trade for a really good one.

People told me to be patient. We'd make in rain soon enough at DT in FA and fix the run D issues the front office lamented a month ago.

How many of you gonna fall for this yet again this offseason?
no, people said be patient because we are not even 48 hours into FA and you have already made a judgement. No one is giving this front office the benefit of the doubt but they have pleasantly surprised with the gilmore trade and some re-signings. most of us are willing to crucify them but not until after the draft and into training camp.

I think that's his point though. there doesn't seem to be any urgency to address a significant problem we continue to have. It's only a couple of days into FA but all the significant difference makers are already gone. Anyone we sign at this point is just going to be another decent rotation player, but nothing special.

It's possible they could be looking for a trade candidate, and I'll be the first to eat crow if a big move is made, but I don't think this front office has earned the "be patient" approach that everyone is suggesting, at least when it comes to DT.

Ahhh, wait until after the draft.

Haven't heard that one before.

I'll admit to being wrong if it happens but they aren't even linked to any of the remaining DTs. We are gonna likely bring back Hankins, bring back Watkins, throw a mid to late round pick or two at some project DTs and that will be it.

Same ****, different year.

At first I thought they may “splurge” on a guy like Billings (although there was no evidence to feel that way, aside from the notion that they can’t continue to be THIS ignorant over it, but…).

Looks to me as if the plan is to hope guys like Gallimore, Golston and OO step it up.

Jerry DID indeed say something along those lines recently…..their recent mid round picks need to step up.

I have NO idea what makes them think that ALL their draft picks are going to hit, but it really does seem as if they expect them to.

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to Jordan Phillips. He was available as of yesterday and is only 30. 3-4 years back, he looked like he was about to become a dominant force in the league. Has since been released by Arizona and didn’t do much in Buffalo as a backup last year!

Amen

And the late round project DT will be some non battle tested, Big XII or small school athlete.

They could very well draft one next month.

Who told you that??????
The Cowboys and fans do this dance every offseason.......never fail. I mean fans/posters standing on the table for a top-level DT and it continues to be a low-priority position.

BTW.....just my take but this is 100% Quinn's call IMO. Remember when they bend over backward to get the kind of players Martinelli wanted for his D. I have no doubt they would do the same thing for Quinn.
