Interleague play setup is stupid

Interleague play was a good idea. I think it was a good idea to get the American League and National League teams to face off with each other every year during the regular season. Unfortunately, they have done such a poor job of setting it up.

It is utterly ridiculous that it has taken 15 years since the inception of interleague play for the Chicago Cubs to visit Fenway Park. How difficult is it to schedule a rotation that makes sense. They spend too much time concentrating on getting the Yankees and Mets to play against each other and ignore everything else. There is no rhyme or reason on how interleague play is organized. Thank you again Mr. Selig for being such a dunce.

I like the idea of interleague play, but agree it is executed poorly. The thought that every team has a "rival" in the other league is just crazy. Sure it works sometimes, like the Mets and Yankees, Rangers and Astros, Dodgers and Angels... but they don't need to do that with every team. I mean the Mariners and Padres? Was there some kind of Seattle-San Diego conflict in our history I'm unaware of?

Just cycle the divisions like the NFL does and be done with it. You don't have to have a subway series every year. I don't think most NYers even care. I know I don't give a damn about playing the Astros every year.

The biggest issue is that the "rivalry" games really screw with the strength of schedule. Look at the NL East...some teams get the always strong Yankees or Red Sox every year while others get the lowly Orioles.

Doesn't sound like a big deal but what if the division is decided by one game.

I know I'd relocate a franchise if it meant getting to play the Pirates every year.
