As a Iowa alumni, they are my second favorite team after Notre Dame (which has not been able to finish any games so far well). I was leary after all the hype - too many players graduated on the O line and the secondary was suspect- so this was not a shock. though most of the blame goes to special teams. The Iowa Rivals boards was chock full of people talking about getting into the NC game a few weeks ago-ooopppppsssss. They are a good team and Ferrentz is a very good coach. But they ain't what they thought they were.

Sort of like us Cowboy fans.

I'm a Wildcat fan as well, but #19 Wright damn near lost the game for them. I was getting pissed.

Of course we wont be able to make it to the NC game with this loss, but we still have a chance to win the big ten and make it to the Rose bowl. We have one loss to a good Arizona team that just took us out of our comfort zone and we got away from Iowa football by running it and wearing down the defense, also doesn't help when we give them 14 points right from the start.

Stanzi played at Lake Catholic only a few miles from me.

Weird seeing a local kid do so well...but not at Ohio St.

No never saw him play but read about his exploits in the paper every Saturday.

I agree though...never thought he would start.

No, the Pac 10 is the most overrated conference. They are no better than the ACC, they just have USC.

The Big Ten is easily #2, just look at the polls. Do Michigan and Michigan St truely deserve being ranked just because they beat Notre Dame? Ohio St is consistantly good and deserve a top 5 ranking and they usually have a second good team that deserves a top 15 but beyond that it is just a bunch of .500 schools.

I'll bet you want to call out the Big 12 for being overrated, and while I don't think the Horns currently deserve a top 10 ranking the rest of the conference is easily ranked where it should be. Nebraska and OU are currently top 10 programs (and will prove to be so by playing in the Big 12 title game undefeated). The rest of the teams are mediocre and unranked. The best of the bunch will undoubtedly get into the top 25 by the end of the year and if any manage to knock off UT without lossing too many others could get in as well, but none of them would move up just because they beat Notre Dame.

I would have to disagree, the Big 10 and Big 12 are the most under rated conferences. Specialy now with Nebraska coming over to the big 10 it will make it even better and tougher. Go blow one off

Im meaning that they aren't the most over rated conferences, and that they get underrated by a lot of people in the media specialy when it comes to the great SEC and also the pac 10. IMO

I agree they are both better than the Pac-10, but the SEC has won the last 4 BCS titles and are 7-1 in BCS games over the last four years. Meanwhile the Big 10 is 2-6 and Big 12 is 2-4 over the same span. I hate the SEC but I cannot argue with their current success.

The Big 12 is neither overrated, nor are they underrated. They are usually rated right where they should be. The media realize that most years they typically have two good teams in OU and UT and then a bunch of middle of the pack teams at best. They usually predict those middle of the pack teams will make some noise within the conference, but typically won't do anything on the national scene.
