My ipod touch starting playing music worse and worse over time. First it would only play in one ear. Then the headphones would have to be held a certain way. Later on I had to physically hold the headphones in place and now absolutely nothing.

I opened it up, took a peak got scared and closed it back up. Now the wifi connection is horrible. Pretty much useless.

True story.

Did you at least try different headphones first?

Yes, like 4. They all worked in other devices.

Must be a piece of crap then. I'm glad I didn't buy one. I hope it's not obvious that it has been opened, so if you take it to a store no one gives you any crap about voiding any warranty or thinking you'd caused it by opening it..

I'm a persistent jerk when it comes to stuff like this. I usually stay in a very cool tone talking about how terrible this is to have happen to something you spent so much money on. If you can get a dufasbar guy to finally go to the manager and you do it subtly enough and make enough sense to listening customers...potential buyers, then you have a good shot at Apple taking it upon themselves to fix it. Now if it's a part over 100, or something, they won't do it. I had to go to the store and then call the PR department for a week to get my logic board fixed for free by them. It takes work, but you can do it.
