For me its Judas Priest and its not close. I have never understood the appeal of Iron Maiden. I've tried many times to listen to them and "get it", but I don't. I suppose I never will, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. There has been a long standing rivalry between Maiden and Priest so I thought this would be a good topic for the next battle of the bands.

Here's one of my favorite Priest songs:

I will take both please thank you.

Iron Maiden has some really great songs. Bruce Dickinson is an incredible singer and they have always had great guitar work.

Both.

You can not go wrong with either.

Both have great singers with the edge going to JP.

Both have great tandem guitar work with the edge going to Iron Maiden.

Both have good drumming although Iron Maiden have had the same one while Priest have had many different ones.

Bass...Edge has to go to Iron Maiden hands down.

Again, you can not go wrong with either band.

JP for me. IM is strong and I do like alot of their stuff, I just never "got" them like the OP mentioned.

Maiden by a mile. I was always partial to Eddie, so that might influence me a bit.

Judas Priest kills live, though. Maiden had some awesome stage shows, but Priest...words can't do them justice.

Expert analysis.
Do I even have to vote?
I love both bands, but Maiden is my fave band ever.
My life changed when I first heard The Number of the Beast album.

One thing to point between both bands and their american fan base is that while JP spent a lot of their time cultivating their fanbase in the US,Maiden did the same abroad.
A good testament of that is their "Flight 666" docu,if you have not watched I highly recommend.

Sad Wings of Destiny bets anything Iron Maiden have done, but Maiden have been consistent with quality of releases IMO. Id have to go with Judas Priest though.

This is why Halford is one of the greatest metal vocalist ever.

All through infantry school the most listened to tape was probably screaming for vengeance which from front to back is one the greatest metal albums ever.:banghead:

Completely subjective, however I believe "Piece of Mind",and "Powerslave" may have a thing or two about that tall tale.

All day this debate has been rattling around my head. I still can't decide.

Rush once said "if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice" so that is mine.
