Yes!!!!! Said many times, generally speaking, most Super Bowls winners have at least two player makers on both sides of the ball. I would argue, our D has at least 3, maybe 4. ( Wilson, Diggs, Parsons )

They are only good enough if they actually get the job done. They can be great all season long, but if they let josh Allen march down the field with 1:30 seconds to go to score the go ahead TD then they arent good enough. If they give up 180 yards rushing to the Niners in the championship game and we lose, then they arent good enough.

The D is definitely good enough to win a Super Bowl, it’s championship caliber but we don’t have the offense to win a Super Bowl. We’re struggling to sustain drives and we don’t score near enough points. When Dak returns if he can get back to the player he was the offense should improve. We’ll see what kind of team we have in December and January. I think most Cowboys fans have learned not to get too carried away after the first few weeks of the regular season. Getting too carried away this early in the season with the Cowboys will get you burned.

My point exactly........and we don't need an offense scoring 30-35 points a game. Play efficiently, and mistake-free while scoring 20-25 points should do it.

We need a better offense than we have if we’re going to win a Super Bowl. I think Buffalo is going to end up in the Super Bowl in the AFC and not only do they have a terrific defense but they have an equally terrific offense. No way would we be able to keep Josh Allen and company out of the end zone multiple times. We need more offensive production and points. There’s been teams with average offenses win Super Bowls due to a great defense but that was decades ago. The rules today promote scoring. You’re not going to win a championship averaging one TD per week.

You are probably right but I also didn't think we would the Bengal's offense. I was just saying in another thread, this D taking on identity based on speed. I would argue NO QB will know what it is like until they play us.

If our offense can put up an extra 5-7 ppg upon Dak's return (this is very reasonable) I think this team has the stuff to make a run very much like a few of those recent 49ers teams.

The good news is that the NFC is absolutely wide open. The usual juggernauts (Tampa, LA, Green Bay, etc) are stumbling and Dallas can play with anyone. We could get lucky this year if things break right.

We don't know. We're only 5 games into the season.
Let's see when we play a team with a good/great quarterback, a good/great offensive line and a running game.
It may be that we won't see such a team until the Super Bowl. Although, we do have Philly, Green Bay and Minnesota still on the schedule and, if we make the playoffs, we'll somehow find our way into playing the 49ers.
Still too much football to go.
But I like what I'm seeing.

Our offense only scored 15 points yesterday. We can’t bank on shutting down every QB we face. Tom Brady and company moved the ball up and down the field on us in the opener but we didn’t break. We gave up over 150 yards rushing and entering yesterdays game we ranked 27th against the run so it’s not like our defense is invincible. What we have is a great pass rush. I’m not about to get too carried away with our defense because it’s way too early in the season.

Parsons already has a groin and we may start suffering other injuries during the season and by December our defense may not be what it is now. It’s not like we haven’t seen the Cowboys fade before. We had a great football team last year at this time and by December we weren’t the same team. We may be looking back in December wishing we had the defense we had against the Rams. Things can change as the season goes on. Hopefully the defense will continue to improve and not regress. We have a long way to go.

I would also add that we are 26th against tbe run game so there's plenty if room for improvement in that one area. They are fun as hell to watch though

Im excited about the defense, but I'm also kinda cautious about them. So far the teams we've played are some of the worst offenses in the league.
TB:20.6
Cin:21.6
NYG:20.6
WAS:18
LAR:19
Those are the ppgs those offenses have averaged this season . 4 out the 5 teams we've played are ranked in the top 8 for most sacks given up, with 3 of them being in the top 5. So while our defense is doing its job, I'm not completely sold on them either

That doesn’t mean they weren’t a championship caliber defense . Just means they didn’t make the plays on the biggest stages . Or possibly beaten by a greater talent or team.

Just like our great Cowboy teams were beaten by greater teams against Green Bay and Pittsburgh in 60’s and 70’s. Those were still championship caliber Cowboys defenses.

Definitely, many teams have won the super bowl without top 10 defenses
Generally with few exceptions you have to be great on at least one side of the ball and average to above average on the other side.

And why this offense will eventually need to step it up.

We need Dak to play within the system and score more points to take the pressure off our defense…they can’t play with the same intensity week aster week; there will be games where they will be flat. That is where Dak comes in to take the pressure off our defense. Our defense will be great if we can play complementary football.
