Is Warren or Loveland TE1

I understand. These two are just better players than the ones we have.

I consider it a possible BPA rather than a need. I seriously think Warren in particular will likely be a star.

He's not a bad blocker and can even play some slot, which would give you options and versatility from a player.

I understand what you're saying. I just think this is maybe the best way to upgrade the offense. JMO
If we were to take Warren, I would hope that we turn around and immediately shop Ferguson and Schoonmaker, trading whichever one brings us the best offer. If we could recoup a fourth for Ferguson that would make drafting Warren more palatable.

True.

Or we could just have one of the better TE groups in the league.

I think you'd get the most in return out of Ferguson, though.

I love them both.

I was iffy on Loveland until I watched Chris Simms' segment on him, and Chris pointed out that A. Michigan's asking him to tackle really tough assignments, like taking on DEs, and B. you notice him losing more reps because Michigan asked him to block a ton, and he just put more total reps on tape.

His talent as a receiver is obvious, and he's farther along as a blocker than I realized. He'll be good.

There's no squinting at the tape with Warren. Penn State put him in a Travis Kelce type feature role and moved him all over the field - it made so much sense when I realized that his OC was actually Kansas City's former OC - and he delivered monster play after play. I actually don't think he's that great of a blocker, but he's so gifted as a receiver and he's so good with the ball in his hands.

Worth noting, as someone who watched every snap he played, is that PSU had quite literally a black hole at WR. In the final playoff game against ND the WR stat line was 0 catches for -3 yards. Try to picture that in your head. Get out your scientific calculators. The WR production was so mediocre that Warren was both force fed catches AND he received all the coverage by default. If you put an even passable WR group on the field with him it would have resulted in some ridiculous mismatches.

With all that said, a hall of fame TE isn't going to fix the Cowboys. He would be a nice draft pick and would keep them from spending too much on Ferguson, but until the Owner/GM croaks and they get a value add at the QB position from a salary cap perspective, all this is just shuffling the chairs on the Titanic.

Chris Simms is probably my favorite draft analyst. Need to watch him before this draft.
