I do find this really annoying. I don't really get what they're trying to do besides annoy people who are looking for actual musician's work.

YYES! Although I have looked at sneaky tactics used by ppl who want hits on Youtube and for any musician to get notoriety they have to do this. Kinda sad that no one genuinely wants to hear new music, but how else do you search except for songs?

Sorta related, I recently posted a vid with Daft Punk, so I go on youtube to try to listen to all the tracks they did for Tron. What I get on my search? 1000 remixes of daft punk's original work. I hate that they even title it as the new track of Daft Punk then put their own re-mix of it. Some even just put all original songs that were their own and say that it was a new track for Tron by Daft Punk. Uuuuuuuuuuugh

Fortunately the viewers quickly comment on what the song really is , but this is all off an album that has yet to be released, so it is only for a while.

It's not iTunes...it's original intent was for people to share videos like stuff they shoot etc...hence the "you" in youtube.

Yeah, but there's a difference between labeling what is really a cover as if it were the original to try and get extra hits, and just posting a video of your own music.

It's a bit annoying but sometimes if you just sort it by hits, you might be able to find the real video.

Exceptionally annoying, especially when you're on a smartphone. The people that label their own as the original artists are the worst.

Despite the fact that it is "you"tube as someone mentioned, these people are using the original artist to plug their own crap rendition of the song. The record companies are putting out their own channels, but the powers that be on YouTube need to enforce a labeling code that maintains original artists have first results. Not that hard to do at all.
