Texas has beaten Texas Tech, 52-20.

The Longhorns improve to 6-2 overall, and 3-2 in the Big 12.

The Red Raiders drop to 5-4, 2-4.

Texas has become bowl-eligible, with its sixth victory. Representatives of the Orange, Cotton and Alamo bowls were on hand Saturday at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

David Ash was 4 of 7, for 125 yards. He didn’t throw a touchdown or an interception. Case McCoy came in late and was 1 of 1, for a 31-yard touchdown pass to Darius White. Texas Tech’s Seth Doege was 40 of 55 for 381 yards and two touchdowns.

Malcolm Brown missed Saturday’s game with a turf toe injury. He probably would have been available in limited action had the Longhorns needed him. But they didn’t. Joe Bergeron, however, had his second straight big game —- 29 carries for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Fozzy Whittaker had 10 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Ash added 59 rushing yards on four carries.

Bergeron left the game at the 8-minute mark after being shaken up. It came after a big collision on a run. He stayed on the field for a minute or two, but got up and jogged off

I have not seen the Longhorns run the ball as they did this past weekend in a long time. Really looked like old fashion Texas Football. Really encouraged about the future of this team with so many freshman and sophomores in the starting lineup

Just think what a healthy Malcolm Brown could have added to the stampede...

Very quietly, the Horns have built a pretty good offensive line, and they've done it in a hurry (last year's line was one of the worst I recall)... some of the holes I saw Saturday, I could have gained six yards...

I'm not saying I'd get up once I got tackled, though... :D

Hey Silver,

How have you been? To be honest, I never thought that the problem was the talent. I thought that the problem was the technique that was being used in the spread OL vs the conversion to the Power Running Game. I think that the talent was there, they recruited talent, they just were not strong in the proper techniques. Hopefully, what we are seeing now is the benefits of changing techniques and some of the coaching moves.

The SEC has used power running and good defense to dominate College. I think Texas is doing the right thing.

I think it was a smart move on Mack Browns part to bring in the coaching staff he has. OL Stacy Searels who coached the OL in the SEC brings in the change Mack was looking for.

You know Mack Brown is happy to finally get that power run game going again.

That Tech defense is atrocious though, not taking away from the Longhorns, but tech can not stop anybody. they somehow fluked out against OU.

True but Texas Defense did a great job of stopping Tech all day long. The last TD Tech scored the game was already out of reach.

I disagree. Some of the guys on the O-line last year were not talented. Now Texas is putting in some of the younger guys who do have some talent. The scheme does play a part as well, but some of those lineman just didn't have what it took to be good.

While I'm glad Texas is running better and is back to become a more physical team; I still want a balanced offense. Ash showed that he can throw the deep ball well on Saturday. I am wondering how good he can be with short and intermediate passes.

The defense though is coming around. That was a good Tech oline Texas played and held TT offense to 6 points for the first 45 minutes. I think the last time a Texas defense played that well against TT was 2005?

Ash will have better control as his time moves on. As a Freshman the best thing Texas can do it run the ball and put Ash in position to have success in the passing game and build confidence. One thing I noticed with Ash this past game is he did not hesitate to pull the ball down and run when he had to.

I don't agree. You bring in guys to skate if you are running the spread. They are talented guys, they are just not the kind of guys who have been coached up to move guys out of the hole. If you've been coached a certain way for most of your collegiate career, it's going to be much more difficult to change in a single year, which is really what we are talking about here.

I don't think they were bad players. I just don't think they were suited to what Texas wanted to do in the running game.

I could care less about balance. Give me this run it down your throat offense, with some occasional deep balls, and some play action passing and I am just fine.

Talented players can perform no matter the system. I know that is rather generic, but in my opinion some of the older guys had little talent. I think some of the older offensive lineman would be bad no matter what system Texas was running. Some of those guys weren't really big or strong, nor were they quick and agile. They really offered little to the offense. Some of the younger guys playing are much more talented players. Sure they may be more adept to this particular system, but the older guys would have struggled in it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining that Texas can rush the football now. I've been waiting for this to happen from the backs consistently since 2007. I love the physical football. Texas is building itself like an SEC team. Strong rushing team, adequate passing game, improving secondary and recruiting big dlineman. I even see the oline improving over the past few weeks. I just hope that if Ash ever comes to the situation where he needs to use his arm as much over anyone's legs, can they count on him to deliver.

Saturday will be a test. Baylor ran all over Missouri last week. But Missouri is a decent team even with their record.
